"I have been using this ball set up for about six years and it has served me very well. The two trailers I pull most often take a 2" ball but I occasionally need the smaller or larger ball and it is very convenient to just turn the drawbar and get going. I don't like the idea of putting together a second or third ball mount for rare use then having to store them in my truck cab where they get grease or rust on the carpet or leaving them at the shop then being 20 miles away wishing I had one with me.
I have heard some people complain about the welded on balls weakening the steel but your actual hitch has more welds than this mount and there is nothing you can do about that. I try not to overload it but if I ever did have a concern I'll throw it in the recycle pile and buy a new one. I pull 8000# often and no sign of wear other than the paint is rubbed off."
