SP2 4 gal Backpack sprayer,
April 21, 2008

"I have purchased a number of these over the years for our pest control company. They usually last about 9-12 months, (a full season for our business.) That is putting out about 80 gallons per day, 5 days a week. The pumping action works well, and the adjustable nozzle works for a variety of situations. The pressure allows us to reach many eaves although anything higher than 20-25 feet is a stretch at best. If the wind is blowing, you might reach 12 feet up. We clean out our sprayers each night (triple rinse), so there is no chemical left in the sprayer overnite. I do recommend these sprayers for most liquid chemicals. However, do NOT use anything like Timbor or Nibor in these sprayers, for it will ruin them."

Used to spray trees,
April 14, 2008

"Overall, the sprayer is very good. It was able to spray the trunks of trees up quite high, which is what I wanted when spraying infested tree trunks. It also did a great job on foliar sprays for small trees. Did not take as much effort to build up the pressure in the tank as I was expecting. We have not figured out the shoulder straps yet. When looking up, the straps had a tendency to fall off, but perhaps we just needed to tighten the straps more. Spraying was done by one expert and one beginner."

SP backpack sprayer,
October 15, 2007
By Scottie

"I am delighted with the SP backpack sprayer. Not only is it easy to assemble, but it performs well and makes all these awkward jobs about the yard easy and quick to complete. The sprayer is user friendly, efficient and reliable. It operated as easily as the advertising says it does and gets at all the difficult to reach areas. I don't consider myself in the least technical but found the sprayer easy to operate, even at the first time of using. Most appealing feature is that it allows you to complete all these chores at a fraction of the cost of bringing in a contractor. An added benefit is that the sprayer was delivered well within the time that Northern Tool committed. I would have no problem in buying another SP product based on my recent experience."

SP2 Backpack Sprayer,
October 15, 2007
By JamesC

"We've used several different brands of backpack sprayers over the years in park maintenance: Solo, Hudson, etc. The SP2 is the first one about which I can honestly say, "It doesn't leak!" That is really important when your people are applying chemicals which can be absorbed through the skin and which may be hazardous to their health.
The weight, capacity, and materials are comparable to previously used brands and models with no appreciable difference. The reliability of these units remains to be seen since we only recently purchased them. But the fact that they truly hold the solution without leakage down the applicator's back means that these are being used. Our maintenance techs had reached the point that they would rather use 2 gallon hand-held units, have to mix spray solution twice as often and carry that weight in their hands than walk around with chemical on their skin and clothes."
