no lack of power,

"I purchased this unit with the optional wheel kit to power my mobile workshop. It will run lights, fans, roof air, hand tools and a 165 ton electric tire press and not even show signs of working hard. When i hit the job site it may run for 8 to 12 hours steady and no matter what i turn on you can hardly detect a change in the pitch of the engine. It is fairly loud when running but not any worse than a ridding lawn mower. I have no complaints and will purchase additional units as i expand my fleet."

By rllbfrom Upper Michigan
"This unit has been helpfull to my family and I on many occasions from the worst stormy winter days to spring storms and even the summer windy days. We live in a rural area and are affected by power outages that range from 3 hours to 22 hours and this happens usually a few times per year. I have been very impresses with the generators performance overall and especially impressed on how easy it is on fuel consumption. We love our genertor."

super generator for home use,
April 15, 2008
By fsr54from Little Compton RI
"I purchased this generator from northern tool about three years ago as a replacment for my 3500 watt hinda generator. I added the wheel kit which was very easy to install It runs almost my whole house less the electric Oven but I can use the electric cook top if i shed some of the other house loads The drawback was the auto engine speed delay which does not work well as it responce is slow . I left this feature off while running the generator and have powered my house for 22 hrs stright as I lose power very ofter being at the end of the utility line . Uses just about 1 tankful of gas every 9 hrs so you will need a couple of jerry can sof gas. I added a small battery charger to the battery so it wil always start when I need it. Once month I start it up and run it for about 15 minuites to keep the oil on the cyinder walls and load it up every other month. Switched to Mobil 1 oil and it starts better in the cold wether Very good buy for the price.."

"I use my Northstar generator everyday for my air compressor and heat guns. It starts first time every time and is very good on gas (my unit has electric start)! I've had it in daily use for over a year now with no problems. If your looking for a dependable and affordable unit, this product is a great chose!"

"After doing considerable research on generators, we decided to purchase this unit from Northern Tool because gave us teh most value for teh money. I spoke with the people are Northern Tool about generator sizing and what accessories they would recommend. I found them to be very helpful. We purchased the generator, transfer switch, and power cord. The installation was a snap. I found that the transfer switch was easy to wire and install near the main circuit breaker panel.
Living in Michigan we are susceptible to ice storms, really nasty thunder storms, as well as the occasional odd tornado. This usually results in our losing power. Since we get all of our water from a well, it tends to get pretty dry. We've used the generator a number of times and its never failed to start and perform 100%. I would highly recommend this generator to people that are looking for a reliable power source with the most value.
I would also highly recommend that if you purchase one of these units, that you seriously consider purchasing a battery tender from Northern Tool as well. Over time the starter battery will discharge and this unit is a bit of a challange to manually "pull start"."

8000W Northstar Gen,
August 13, 2007
By offgridfrom new england
"After a lot of research we decided on this generator for its features, including being able to run 240 and 120. Originally purchased to supply power during construction of a 1100 sq foot cabin that has ZERO street power. So far our builder, has not had any issue (with his crew of 4) and all their standard tools during construction. I have been changing oil very frequently which is greatly improved with a (remote drain hose) available here from northerntool (highly recommend getting the remote hose to make oil draining easier). Also, use one of those oil quart attachments with a long clear hose to make filling the crank case easier. This generator IS loud but provides excellent power and is more efficient than stated. Full week of construction on average uses 12-15 gallons of gas. Generator also runs VERY cool if you keep up on maintenance. Pros: Abundant power, Fuel efficiency, Kick down idle, Operating temp, Cons: Noise, location of oil fill and drain,"

"I purchased this item due to the local where I live and the hurricanes which pass through this area. I have watched the news and heard personal word that when a hurricane hits people are always having problems purchasing a generator as the stores are normally sold out. I did not want to be one of these people. After receiving the item(generator) I found it very easy to set up and get runiing the instructions received with the item were very self explanatory and I had the generator up and running within minutes. I now have the unit stored and ready to use if the occasion ever arises. I believe this will fulfill my families needs during any type of situation on the loss of power to the area in which I live."
