Old Log splitter - new life!,
April 22, 2008
By RCB91485from Upstate NY
"After having my old B&S 5HP engine die out and overhauled the previous year (at about 3/4 the price of this one) it still didn't run reliably. I found this 6.5HP engine bolted right up in less than 30min and wow!! my old splitter had new life!! Well it's been about 2 yrs with the new engine and it still starts EVERYTIME.!! My only complaint would be the cheap plastic fuel tanks that are not impervious to mice or squirrles, but hey....it was a fair price compared to Honda's w/ a metal tank."

Happiness is Briggs & Stratton,
April 21, 2008
By Mag00from Las Vegas, Nv
"I purchased this 6.5 HP Briggs & Stratton engine as a replacement for an older 5.0 HP engine supplied by another manufacturer. The original engine had less than 50 hours run time when a broken camshaft sent it to the junk yard. I recieved the new B&S engine from Northern in less than a week. Installation on my chipper took about 1.5 hours. Once mounted, I filled the crankcase and gas tank and pulled once on the starter rope. I was totally amazed, it started on that first pull. The ignition and induction systems on this OHV engine are the best I've seen in my 40 years of dealing with small engines of this type. After sitting throughout the winter, the spring start up still took only one pull. You couldn't buy this engine from me for 5 times the purchase price."

Nice Engine,
October 15, 2007
By walt9from 9 miles from La Pine, OR
"The Briggs 6.5 hp replaced my very old 5hp engine. The motor mounted on my 25 ton log splitter just like putting on a pair of slippers. The total time involved was less than 30 minutes. The engine started in 3 pulls, but since then, it usually start in 1 to 2 attempts. The altiude of 4500 feet where I live has had no effect on starting, which greatly pleased me. the only complaint I have is checking the oil level. My old Briggs had anoil dip stick, and the new motor you must remove a plug to check."

"Purchased as a replacement engine for my wood splitter. It was 1/2 the price of a local one. Bolted right up and started on the first pull. I split 30 cords of wood with it this summer. Excellent price and value."

Restoration of Lawnmower,
October 8, 2007
By tallgrassmowermanfrom southwest florida
"During the process of trying to find a suitable replacement motor for an old hi-wheeled mower I wanted to restore, I looked in the Northern online catalog to check what was available. The 6.5 B&S Intek popped up on the sale page. After checking the specs I decided to try it out. It's been over 2 months since I've installed this engine and I can tell you that it really is a workhorse! I have had some different situations with Northern before and every time I have needed any help they have customer service that is second to none. I plan on ordering another small engine soon after checking the latest online update, I found a motor that I was interested in and it's also on sale!"

Amazing Engine for the Price,
March 9, 2007
By rbmdfrom Maryland
"I used this engine as replacement for a Troy Bilt Horse model tiller. It arrived in perfect condition, after I removed the OEM engine and bolted up the Briggs, I put syntethic oil in it and filled the gas tank. Amazingly it started on the first pull (no kidding it really did happen that way). This engine is quiter, has more power and uses less fuel than the OEM 6 hp that was on the tiller. Don't rebuild you OEM tiller engine, repower with this one!!!!"

B & S 6.5 Intek,
March 7, 2007
By booboofrom Pawcatuck, Ct. (southeastern Ct )
"The engine preforms very nicely for my log splitter . The quietness, ease of starting, bolt pattern alignment, and smoothnes of operation under a pretty good load was a little more than expected. The price and delivery time were better than expected as well. This 6.5 Hp has some punch without bogging down at all under a reasonable amount of resistance."
