Swisher Self-Propelled Walk-Behind Mower,
April 10, 2008
By PSTD96from Lothian, MD
"After using this product for one season I have found this product to be excellent for my purpose. My lot is wooded on three sides making it difficult to cut the borders with a standard lawn tractor because of lots of undergrowth and weeds and the many small branches that liter the lot borders after each winter. With this mower I simply plow right through the growth in third gear with no hesitation. Initially the vinyl on the handle bars would come off but I solved this by simply coating with plasticote which makes them quite sturdy. I also attached two small lawn mower wheel to the front of the deck just to be able to move easily the mower across the yard without making trenches. Following these changes the mower performs well cutting weeds and any growth that stands in its path without hesitation. The 11.5 hp engine is well suited for this size mower. I recommend this product based on its performance and price."

Wish I would have bought a pull-behind,

"This mower is great for brushing trails that are too narrow for a pull-behind brush mower and if you only want walking width trails. I'm 6'5" tall and the short handles force me to walk hunched over and my back tires out quickly. Swisher doesn't have a souce for extentions or longer cables to extend them myself. It is a powerful mower and cuts thick brush, grinding it up to mulch. Also the limited slip drive makes it hard when going over small logs or arm size deadfalls and you have to muscle it over or pick it up hitting it exactly straight on."

"I have the 10HP model from Swisher. It works good. It pushes over most small brush. The belt is a little hard to adjust correctly and still have a working reverse safety. I have loaned this to several family and friends and they all had success."
