Great Tool,

By AWEP

"Chain sharpener works great. After a little reading and a short setup, I had 9 chains factory sharp in about 50 minutes. This tool has already saved me money and time. No trips to the saw shop for me anymore. I plan on buying another for the company I work for. I would recommend this tool for anyone that uses a saw on a regular basis."

Oregon chain sharperer -> Midi Jolly,
April 21, 2008
By arnieb

"I got tired of hand sharpening so I sprung for the Oregon Model# 108181. This is also the Midi Jolly. Since Jolly is the manufacturer, I guess Oregon is just rebranding it. I've sharpened about 20 chains with it now for my Husky Rancher 55 chain saw. It works well and is easy to set-up. It doesn't have all the adjustments of the more expensive model but it works well for the standard chains that I use. The instructions were clear and set-up was straightforward. My only negative on the product is that the abrasive grit gets thrown off the wheel and builds-up on the sharpener and then hardens like a rock. I need to figure out how to remove it. Otherwise, works perfectly. Once I get it set-up for a chain, which takes about 5 minutes, I can sharpen the entire chain in about 10 minutes. This is a lot faster than my old file jig."

"GREAT VALUE. A LITTLE READING AT FIRST, THEN IN 5 MINUTES YOU'VE GOT A "FACTORY FRESH" SHARP CHAIN!!! MY NEIGHBORS ALL HAVE SHARP CHAINS NOW TOO! BUY SOME EXTRA DIFFERENT SIZE GRINDING WHEELS FOR ASSORTED CHAIN SIZES. I BOUGHT THE OPTIONAL WALL MOUNT BRACKET (.99) SO YOU CAN SET UP USING A WORKBENCH VISE AT ANYONES HOUSE!"

This is great!,

"I have been considering getting a chainsaw sharpener like this for some time but had difficulty in understanding whether I should try one of the cheap ones for or go all the way for the 0 version. The online feedback on the NorthernTool site was very helpful. I recieved my Oregon 108181 (in Canada) only a couple of days after it shipped. Setting it up was easy, there is very little to it, especially if you have used other shapening devices. I don't undertsand why these units are not available in Canada but they aren't. After frustrating myself for years with the bolt on mitre-slide type sharpener I am now blessed with a tool that takes me less than 10 min to sharpen a chain and that includes taking it off the saw. All that aside, the huge benefit is the quality of the job it does - vastly superior to all other forms of sharpening. I restored a chain that I used doing some demolition to perfect condition. If you use your saw to cut firewood, you need one of these."

A Real Time-Saver,
January 24, 2008
By Merrybee

"With heating costs rising so fast, we decided to put our woodstove to work this winter. Cutting wood is a chore because the chains dull so fast. In December of 2007, we purchased the Oregon 108181 Chain Saw Sharpener from Northern Tool. After setting up this sharpener, and with just a tad bit of experimenting , we were able in no time at all to get a fine, sharp point on our chains. The sharpener is user friendly, fairly inexpensive and well worth the money to keep us bringing in the fuel. We are saving money everywhere on this purchase."

"Wanted a chainsaw chain sharpener for home and semi-business use. I believe dollar for dollar, you can't do any better. I would like to see more possibilities for choices besides handyman and pro, something in between"
