"Actually I'd rate it 4.5. I used this mower for almost 5 years off the back of a 1989 John Deere 650 tractor with tremendous satisfaction. I sharpened the blades in the spring, mowed weekly for 7 months, greased the fittings monthly and it did a beautiful job on a 2-acre lawn, even when the grass grew to 7 inches in height. I backed it under trees and bushes to trim edges of grass around the yard and used it every fall to mow down and prepare a 20' x 100' wildflower garden for the winter. The wildflowers grew to 4+ feet tall, with heavy stalks. The only shortcomings I had was the loss of one of the cutting blades during mowing (once), unbeknwnst to me, but I found it two weeks later and the periodic loss of snap rings atop each of the four wheels. I did not properly tighten that blade's bolt after the spring sharpening. Once in awhile, while trimming under trees, the branches would grab one of the snap rings holding a wheel in place and I'd lose a snap ring and a few hard rubber spacers. I cured that problem by wiring the snap rings down so they could not flip up. In late spring this year, after almost 6 years of use, I sold my entire tractor rig (backhoe, bucket loader, mowing deck, rototiller and trailer) for the same amount as I had bought it for. That's shows how well the mowing deck stood up. At 70 years of age I am retiring to a new home on 1/4 acre that I can almost mow with a pair of scissors."
