Tons of torque, sometimes too much,
April 22, 2008
By Twomartinis

"I have this drill/driver as part of a combo-kit. Here are my thoughts.
PRO: The housing is made out of a high-tech plastic that “gives or “flexes” intentionally. Not to be confused with flimsy construction, this comes in handy when you lock up the drill or (heaven forbid), drop it off of a ladder. Murphy’s Law states that the drill will land on your new drill bit, thereby breaking it in two; but this is better and a broken drill…
PRO: Amazing torque – be sure to use the clutch settings whenever possible. The drill has so much available torque when set to drilling - so much so that I have had my wrist violently slammed into various hard surfaces.
PRO: Keyless chuck is easily operated one-handed; and the carbide lined jaws guarantee that the bit will not slip. On the contrary, I’ve wound up putting grooves into the shafts of my drill bits due to over tightening of the chuck.
PRO: Good battery life. My batteries are still going strong after 2 years of use.
PRO: 3 year Provantage warranty
CON: By now you are probably thinking this drill is invincible – it isn’t. I believe I’ve finally melted the structure that supports the brush assembly; and the clutch is slipping on its own. I’ve sent it back to Bosch for repair. I will say that I directly attribute the brush issues to mixing up 40-50lb batches of thin-set mortar. Thin twice before subjecting any cordless drill to continuous, multi multi-battery draining mixing operation. Get a good ½” corded drill for this!
Conclusion – this drill has served my faithfully through 2 years of home renovation. I’m not using it all day, every day; but when I use it, I use it hard. I feel like it has paid for itself many times over. When it eventually dies of old age or goes out of warranty I will replace it without hesitation. When I sent it back, I bought a 3/8” compact version of this drill to get me through the downtime. It’s so light, yet so powerful! I have been impressed with every Bosch product I’ve used to date."

"Over the last 48 years I have been buying tools for my husband. In these years I have purchased many brands, always my husband prefers the bosch products. I myself use the cordless drill in a lot of house repairs,I find it easy to use and light weight enough for a woman to handle,More women are doing a lot of projects and I feel it would be a plus in the tool market to advertise tools with a woman in mind!! I myself love using this drill and use it often !! My husband claims it is his,but I purchased it for me !!"

World Greatest Cordless Drill,
April 21, 2008
By RickyB

"I have personally owned two of these drills and they are the best cordless drills I have ever owned. I have owned Dewalt, Black and Decker, Skill and Milwaulkee and have never had any of them last as long as the bosch. I am in the pool business and use my drill on a daily basis. All of the other drills I have owned have to be charged everyday at least twice a day. With this bosch I actually charge it every other day. I would definately recommened this drill to anyone. Thanks Ricky"

"This drill is definitely expensive. But you get what you pay for. Lots a long lasting power. Just be careful if the bit grabs, you could sprain a wrist."

Bosch Power Tools,
April 21, 2008
By supeduptoy

"I have tried many of the power tools on the market and worn them out. The bosch brute force driver drill has the muscle to get the job done. The blue core batteries really do make a difference too. They always have the optimum charge and last a long time. Anyone would be pleased with one of these. They also have one of the best warranties too."

Bosh 18volt drill/driver,
April 21, 2008
By 1Larry

"This drill is a excelent tool. It has amazing power, yet it can be set to deliver a very low torque when required. With two batteries it is almost impossible to run out of power. The drill is a little bulkie and may not be suited for very tight work spaces. The drill has giving excelent service. I have been well satisified with this rugged tool and would highly recomend it for home or professional use."
