Not a silver bullet, August 28, 2008

"I truly don't know how to rate these tools. I could give them one star or five stars and feel justified in both cases. The long and short of the matter is that when a bolt head has been rounded by somebody's abuse or when it has been rusted away to the point that the correct size six point socket is too large, you've got a problem. I've never found a way to make it easy or reliable to remove them. I've had more success with these tools than any other product that I've used, but they certainly aren't fool proof. When they do work, they certainly rate a five star. When they don't work, they simply don't rate. I'd guess that they've taken my success ratio in these situations from about 2:10 to about 6:10 I guess I should be grateful. They sure work a lot better than shearing off the head, drilling a hole, and using an internal type extractor. They almost never work.

I'd recommend this set to anybody, but I'd caution them to keep their expectations reasonable."
