Great for beginners,

"This is a good starter helichopter for beginners and it can take a beating from slamming it into the wall and stuff, things that would instantly break an expert level helichopter. A really good buy for a beginners who wants to learn how to fly a helichopter but not loose a lot of money in repairing one that they were not prepared to fly."

WIRELESS HELICOPTER,
April 14, 2008

"I BOUGHT TWO OF THESE AND I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. IF YOU HAVE A BIG ENOUGH ROOM THEY ARE LOTS OF FUN. WHERE I WORK WE HAVE A HUGE WAREHOUSE AND IT WAS EASY TO CONTROL. WE FLEW THESE ALL OVER AND HIT A LOT OF STUFF AND JUST RECENTLY DID A SMALL PIECE OF THE MAIN ROTOR CHIP OFF BUT IT STILL FLIES AROUND. THE ROTOR DID STOP SPINNING BUT ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PUSH THE BOTTOM GEAR BACK UP TO THE MOTOR AND IT KEEPS ON FLYING."

Fun with limits,
April 14, 2008
By KEcho

" The helicopter is the prefect size to fly inside a small apartment, and it looks cool, rich in detail. The price is great too. I'd been looking for a small, electric RC helo for awhile, but could not justify the 0 or more price. I was unsure about IR, but it worked fine, and did not interfere with all the wireless networks in the area. I don't know if quality is a problem because of the size or in spite of it, but the first chopper's tail rooter would not work, and the copter would only flop around on the ground. I contacted Northern tool, and they replaced it with out question. The CSR was friendly and efficient, rare in today's market. The 2nd helicopter flew great out of the box. I do not really consider it a 3-channel RC device, because the third channel is only an adjustment. The Excalibur flies OK, but latitude controls are limited, and I crashed it many, many times before I got a balanced hover and even then I couldn't easily control forward flight. Granted I am not an experienced pilot, but scrambling to recover it from behind bookshelves or under chairs got old pretty quick. I broke a small piece off of the main rotor, and although it still flies, I can't replace the rotor: this is a serious weakness. Overall, it is fun and a thrill to fly, but as a starter, i am nervous to fly it too often; because I don't think it will survive many more crashes. I would not recommend it for children, and for adults, plan to replace it soon after you succumb to the habit. Northern Tool support deserves 5 stars for friendliness and efficiency."

Save Your Money for Something Else,
January 22, 2008
By HunkaJunk

"I purchased two for our kids (ok, and me). I would recommend this toy to someone only if it was free. Don't spend the money on this toy. It was cool for the first few minutes of its life. The manufacturer recommends in-door use only. One helicopter hit some object in the house, the main propeller shattered. The other helicopter's tail rotor stopped working. Now they both just flop around on the floor and they are no longer used. I'm sure I'm not the only one that had this experience."

not worth the money,
January 21, 2008
By starfleetengineer

"The batttery will not last very long. The flight time gets shorter each time you charge it. You don't have very much contorll over it. In order to go forward you have to add weight to the noise. If you try and hover and 5" it will drop back to the ground. It's full power or nothing. If you want to fly a r/c helicopter you should go to your local hobby shop and ask questions. Spend some extra money and get something that is good."
