"We bought one of each ProTemp 36" and 42" barrel fans. We previously had direct-drive fans and they just made too much noise. These belt-drive models are so much quieter.
The fans work great. They have two speeds on each and we use both speeds depending on how hot it is. We have a large warehouse to cool and the warehouse crew really appreciates the air circulation. The pneumatic wheels really keep the fan from vibrating and making noise."

"My wife bought me this fan as a Father's Day gift. I spend a lot of time in my shop, and the air gets rather stale in there. I have smaller fans, but they tend to be noisier and don't move as much air.
I have been running the fan for some time now and have the following observations: The fan does move a lot of air, but it is not really focused. The switch is not the greatest, feel like I am going to break it everytime I use it."

"Fan is very cheaply made. Very noisy. I only had it for a month, and the bearings went out. But Northern tool was great and sent me another one out right away."

36" fan,

"This is a poor quality fan that is also overpriced. The fan is noisy and I can't tell much difference between low and high speed, the fan vibrates and will not stay where I put it. The dumb thing keeps moving around while it is on. The motor seems to struggle getting started and it is my opinion that it is way under powered. After purchasing this fan I was so disappointed that I looked for and found another one from a different maker, my new fan really works like it should and is smooth and quiet like you would expect a belt drive fan to be. All in all I would not recommend this 36" piece of junk to anyone!"
