"I have a pressure pump used to pump gray water from storage tank for watering yard plants. The water is from showers and wash machine. I was concerned about small sticks that might have gotten in through lid getting sucked in through pickup pipe and eventually into the impeller when water is low. i will put a copper screen around this strainer ( which gives large area to draw through) before periodic cleaning. It is surprising the "muck" that's in the gray water.It should reduce cleaning by !/2"
