A Great Decision,

"We heat our home with a soapstone woodburning stove, and when we built our new house in 2005, we installed a small elevator to bring up the firewood to the main living floor. We used an old Powerwinch hoist to power the elevator; it did an adequate, but slow, job bringing up the wood, but it stripped its gear wheel this winter. We found the Northern Heavy-Duty Electric Hoist on-line and it fit our needs to a tee: it was very inexpensive, compared to other comparable hoists on the market, and it had the 2000 Lb. capacity we needed to bring up a weeks load of firewood. The added bonus was that it was extremely fast and only took about 20 seconds to bring up a load of wood from the ground, while the old hoist took approximately 3 minutes! We were also able to load a carload of groceries on top of the wood, which saved us several trips of hauling groceries up the stairs. I would recommend the Northern Heavy-Duty Electric Hoist to anyone who has a need to lift heavy materials, whether they are a mechanic to lift heavy motors, a roofer to haul materials to top of the house, a contractor to lift building materials to the second floor, or just a homeowner, like myself, who needs to get heavy items into their second-story house. And, of course, the price was very affordable."

Northern Industrial Heavy-Duty Electric Hoist — 20,

"I bought this Hoist for the shop because of my bad Back. It works great and has saved my Back several times now. The one thing I did notice was, the Lifting capacity of 1000 lbs single line is not correct. I have a small Wave Runner which is 500 lb. or a little more. The Hoist would just quit and not try to lift it. I switched to the two line lift and it worked okay. For the money spent, It's worth it. Just don't plan to lift anything close to its 1000 or 2000 lb capacity."

2000 lb. hoist,
January 14, 2008
By skeetfrom Longview, WA
"I've been using this hoist for about three weeks and I'm very happy with it so far. This unit is well built and has saved me a lot of work already. I've only lifted about 5-600 lbs. but it's handled that with ease. My only complaint (and the reason for 4 stars) is that the cords are too short. I've been able to work around this for now, but I plan to mount it on a trolley, and then I will definately need to install longer cords. I would recommend this hoist to anyone in the market, it is a great value for your hard earned dollars."

"For light duty hoisting with intermitant use this prduct with price in mind is a good buy. I have attended many schools for all hoisting applications in the U.S. and in Findland and this hoist mimics the European style of conical drive motor braking technoligy. It is a reliable form of safe hoisting. When used in proper clasification it is the best buy I could find on the market and I have many crane resources."

1 Ton Electric Hoist,

"The hoist does have lots of lifting power and is very well built. The only down side is that the control wire is very short and makes it difficult to mount the unit very high off the ground. it needs to be about 10' long."

Heavy-Duty Electric Hoist — 2000-Lb up up & away,
January 14, 2008
By Anonymous Reviewerfrom Somerset, MA
"Not that I do anything normal but I have to always find a better solution. My problem was my jetski..living in Mass the winters are brutal and leaving it outside was not an option. putting in inside took up to much garage space..so my bright idea was to hoist it up to the cieling of the garage over my sports car and let it rest there for the winter. This is where the Northern Industrial Heavy-Duty Electric 2000lb Hoist did the job and then some. Simply reinforcing the roof rafters and hanging the hoist on the conveinent pipe hanging clamp took less than an hour. From there I backed the trailer in and using 2 heavy duty hoist straps, centered the machine under the hoist and up up and away. It took a few minutes to get the balance right but the hoist worked flawlessly and effortlessly. The convienent hand held control made guiding it a snap. Its been hanging there since September 07 and not once budged. I recommend a dafety chain back up and over the rafter but as for the hoist I could not have picked a better piece of equipment for the job or especially the money. Everyone who sees it cant beleive it and say it will fall until the see the Northern Industrial Heavy-Duty Electric 2000lb Hoist holding it and then it changes to "guess not"...so the patent is pending on my new PWC storage system and if things work out Northern tool should be seeing ALOT of orders from me !!!"

An Economical Heavy Duty Hoist,
March 9, 2007
By Ron58from Winona, MO
"I am really pleased with this hoist. I like the versatility of the single or double line capacity feature. It is a heavy duty hoist- you can tell by just picking it up. Seriously though, it comes with heavy cable and a quality pulley assembly for double line, heavy lifting. I mounted my hoist on a trolley that runs on an I-beam and cannot imagine working in my shop without it."
