Allows you to carry on a conversation or hear warning calls, yet automatically attenuates all noises above 85dB. Great for use with power tools, chainsaws, routers and air tools and a must for people who are exposed to occasional dangerous noise levels.
A bargain in hearing protection,

"I have used the ear muffs with a lawn mower and a chain saw with good results. The noise cut off is about right as it cuts out my mower noise (a pretty quiet Honda push rotary) when it's close to buildings and the sound echos. Feels like its attached to my chainsaw throttle! The abrupt cutoff when it reaches the cutoff sound level is a bit disconserting at first. It does allow normal speech and good backgound awareness when below the threshold of cutoff. Light and comfortable."

"I just received two pair of these headphones and haven't extensively tested them yet, but initially it seems the audio level with the volume knob all the way full is pretty low. Yes, I can hear people talking better than with it turned off, but they're not very loud. Any background noise will automatically reduce the gain further. With the knob at full, I'd expect the audio level to be just under the max allowed. If I had a hearing problem, this would be even worse.
Also, it would be nice if it had a jack to plug in a two-way radio. We currently use an ear-bud in one ear for the radio which defeats one ear worth of the electronic ear muffs. But, the price is good."
