Great idea poor execution,
January 21, 2008

"This is a great idea. I burn 12 cords of wood a year as my primary heat source. Cutting by eye had some logs that were too long and others that were too short. With this idea, all of the logs are the right length. The plastic is a terrible idea though. It will break! I bought some all thread and cut it to length and install the rod when i am blocking. I suspect that a plastic rod is used because it will break if you get it stuck preventing you from getting hurt. The metal rod is durable but a spring loaded metal rod would be ideal. I have these on all of my saws. If you are willing to pay for the special nut and the plastic end cushion, it is a great way to cut consistent size wood."

Cheap Construction,
January 21, 2008

"The idea is great, but it's poorly made. I broke two of the guides the first day I used the set. They both snapped right at the end where they thread into the nut. I ended up using the nut that came with the set and getting a threaded rod and cutting it to length. Save yourself the hassle; it's not worth the aggravation. The guides should not be made of cheap plastic."

not a good product,
October 15, 2007

"These should be made of something other than fiberglass (plastic). I bought these for my husband because on some occasion he gets special ordered firewood that he has to measure instead of eyeball. Cutting one load of firewood with these sticks is too much. The heat from the saw melted off the thread to the rod and they were no longer usable. Would not recommend."

"We purchased 2 of these and found the product to be inferior. The mount is rigid and this would cause the fiberglass rod to break off all the time. If it were spring mounted it would flex when hit by a limb and not break off. Poor design!!!!"

"This product was not well researched by the manufacturer prior of offering it to customers for sale. It is made of cheap plastic that will break easily yet is designed and advertised to be used under high strees conditions. It attaches to a chain saw afterall! The fact that it will be used in cold conditions was also overlooked. This broke within minutes of the first use, simply cutting already downed logs to length, in the back yard. It just received a light bump and it was all over after only a few minutes of use. Great idea but would expect that it would have received better product testing before selling to the public. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!"

"I read the earlier review on this product and following it made all the difference. The plastic will break easily, so I only install this device when cutting trimmed trees trunks into logs for my fireplace. I take it off for any other type of cutting. Be sure when you place the saw on the ground that it will not roll over on to the attachment or it will snap. Following these guidelines it has worked very well and sped up the cutting process."
