Almost unbelievable performance and price, March 7, 2007

"I stumbled upon these drill bits a few years ago. The Pilot Point configuration allows you to drill a reasonably large hole in steel without the need of drilling a smaller pilot hole first. I am the service manager for a large RV dealership in Florida. I install custom towing equipment for many of our customers. This usually requires drilling a minimum of 6 holes through the frame members of the trailer. Conventional drill bits do the job OK but require a pilot hole and tons of lubrication to keep the drill bit cool. The Dewalt Pilot Point bits will drill a hole in as little as three seconds through this high guage steel. This saves me a ton of time. The only recommendation I have is that you do not drill too many consecutive holes without allowing the bit to cool. The fact that these drill so fast sort of pushes you to drill away and away. Let the bit cool and they last forever. If you get carried away and overheat the bit, you can resharpen it in minutes with a fine flat file. The price of these bits through Northern Tool is about 40% less than the national average. THANKS Northern for carrying a fantastic product at an unbelievably low price.
