Dewalt Orbital Sander,

"I've been working on an old car restoration project for a while. Mostly I've been working myself to death trying to do all of the sanding on the body of this 1939 Plymouth. A friend told me that Northern Tool had an orbital sander on sale and I looked and bought the Dewalt 5" orbital sander. I am completely flabbergasted at the difference this sander has made. Areas that were taking me twenty hours to sand by hand with a vibrating palm sander now take less than five hours. It's incredible. The Dewalt orbital sander is lightweight, easy to handle and best of all, quiet! I don't have to wear ear plugs when I use this sander. The fact that it is so lightweight means that at the end of the day I'm not totally exhausted from using it. Had I known the difference the Dewalt sander would make I would have purchased one years ago. I would recommend the Dewalt 5" Orbital Sander to anyone working on any project that requires serious sanding. It works like a charm."

"I recently purchased this sander and found it to be powerful and easy on the hand. It starts slowly which protects the wood. Provides and excellent finish with little effort. It is a quality sander."

Dewalt Orbital sander,

"I am finishing the exposed timbers in a timber frame house. I used the Dewalt orbital sander to clean the timbers from nicks, mars and other imperfections received during construction. This was a heavy duty job and the sander was extremely efficient and easy to use. It is light weight and great to manipulate in tight spots. I had some very high sanding to do and the sander was great for the job. This Dewalt tool gets 5 stars from me."

"I got this sander for one of the projects my wife wanted me to finish and I have to say I am glad I paid a little more for it. I was going to buy the cheapest brand I could find but decided that the difference was not that great . In the end I decided to go with the dewalt and I happy I did. I works great and the bag collector actually works. That is a first I tell you. Over all I'm very happy with this sander."

DeWalt Sander,

"The sander does not turn fast enough when I want to do some heavy sanding. I have an old Ryobi that I will pick up and use before the DeWalt in these circumstances."

Good bang for the buck,
October 29, 2007

"My old orbital sander blew out a bearing in the middle of a time sensitive project. I needed a sander that could handle a large project without over heating and creating significant dust. I purchased the DeWalt 5in variable speed orbital sander and was pleased with my purchase. It is quiet and comfortable to use. The variable speed adjustment is a bit difficult to access, but not much of an issue since I rarely need to make an adjustment while working. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase."

random orbit sander,
October 29, 2007

"For years I have only bought Porter Cable drills & sanders. The last sander I bought only lasted about 1 year before the top bearing froze. I was able to repair it with parts from a previous model and get another year out of it beefore it quit totally. This is completely unacceptable as far as I am concerned. When I buy a tool for my business I feel it should last years. I recently purchased a Dewalt random orbit sander and as far as I can tell this is a wonderful little piece of equipment. The paper stays on, the dust collector actually collects dust, (unlike the other brand I uesd to own) it is very comfortable to hold, even for long periods of time. The only issue I have is the lack of clear direction for on / off and I have corrected this oversight with a sharpie marking pen. I would highly recomend this sander to anyone that is looking for a good, inexpensive sander."
