"Delivery was speedy, the instructions were easy to follow and detailed. I had no difficulty in installing the switch kit. Anyone who can identify black, red & green wires & can read the wire identification letters on the switch wires will be able to install this kit safely, in accordance with the National Electric Code (NEC). A test run proved the switch worked as advertized."

Great Quality and Very Simple to Install,
January 24, 2008

"I just completed the install and testing of my Reliance 10 Circuit Transfer Switch. I was impressed with the quality right out of the box and every thing you need is included with this kit (including wire nuts). The instructions were very clear (and I found instructional videos at the reliance website too). The installation took about 2 hours total. You need to know the basics of how a breaker panel works or this project is not for you. I am not an electrician, but a pretty solid Home Handyman. If you have changed a breaker in the panel, you can do this by yourself. I would highly recommend this to anyone. I am able to power all the critical circuits in the house including well (240), furnace, office, refrigerator, bed and bath lights, TV, Computer, Microwave when I coupled this with my 5500/8600 protable generator. Again, I highly recommend this kit!"

10 circuit Transfer switch,
January 21, 2008
By Blockmanfrom SE Michigan
"Recently I installed the 10 circuit transfer switch. I am using this unti with the 8000 watt Northstar generator. It took a little over two hours to intall the switch and the outside remote plug. The intallation was very simple, and the Relience website has an excellent video showing all the steps. The wires are well marked on the switch, and they give you adeguate wire length to work with. The hardest part was drilling through the brick wall to feed the remote outside wire. I purchase 10/4-600amp (overkill) outdoor wire cord, and fed it into the switch box, everything else is supplied with the kit. After completion, I connected the generator and tested the system. Once the generator is running and connected, you go to the switch box and flip the switches from LINE to GEN and your up and running. With the electric start generator and switch, it makes it easy for anyone in our houshold to operate the system. The hardest part is figuring out what circuits you want to power. (Frig, Furnace, Microwave, Lights etc..)"

"I'm not an electrician, but after reviewing the instructions, I had confidence in installing the Transfer Switch Kit. The detailed instructions and labeled wiring made it easy to install. The total time was about 3 hours. The 10 circuits allow me to run all my lights, oil burner, refrigerator and well pump. People I know made have up their own panel box and circuit breakers, but everything you need is here in one easy package for about the same price."

Transfer switch,
March 7, 2007
By Anonymous Reviewerfrom Dillsburg, PA
"We live in Pennsylvania and get the occasional but starting to increase power outages. The last lasted for 12 hours. After pricing around we found porttable generators to be our best option. Did some comparisons on prices and product and Northern came up at the top of the list. As far as installation. The hardest part was running the wire to the outlet on the outside of the house. The transfer switch has every wire labeled, comes with wire nuts, super easy to understand instructions ( that in itself is a rare find with modern products ). Installation was a breeze. I sleep a little better knowing the generator & the transfer switch are there to help me.
Thanks again for such a great / simple to install product."

"I live in a log cabin on a mountain in the woods in Vermont. It seems that every time a cloud passes over, the power goes out. Frustrated, I finally bought a generator. Not knowing which transfer switch I needed, I called the folks at Northern. They were very helpful, courteous, patient, and respectful in answering my many questions. They then referred me to the manufacturer, Reliance Controls, to answer detailed questions I had. I ordered the ten circuit switch kit. Everything came exactly as described and pictured in the catalog and on the website. Except for the building wire, two clamps, and a few screws, the kit came with everything I needed. The instructions were very clear, detailed, and easy to understand. Excluding the installation of the building wire, the installation of the kit took a little under two hours, with no cussing !! And it works exactly as promised. I will definitely buy from Northern again. Thank you !"
