April 14, 2008
By terryffrom Lansing, NY
"This is a great heater, I installed this heater with my brother in one evening and we were on our we to better heat. I replaced a radiant tube heater with this unit and I can not say a bad thing about this heater. I would do it again nice even heat even in the coldest months. I have a 32by36 garage with 10 foot ceilings and this heater handles that with ease."

Workshop heater,

"This heater works very well. I put in into a 2000 sq ft garage and it heats up more than I need but if I keep it warm in there, my wife helps me work on my old cars. I did have some trouble getting it started because there is a pressure switch inside the regulator and the propane pressure I had to the unit was too high. Once I figured out that issue, it was easy."

Excellent Heater, Excellent Company,
April 7, 2008
By GreenF250from Baltimore, MD
"I have been in much need of a good garage heater for my 20 x 20 "two" car garage. I tried a ceramic radiant heater, about 45k BTU, but it didn't get the garage comfortable. I needed something that would circulate the heat. The radiant was too slow to warm up the cold garage, didn't recover well and never knocked the chill off.
I did a lot of research and kept coming back to the Mr. Heater 75k propane model. It was very economical, well reviewed, and a friend of mine had the 45k model for a slightly smaller garage and it worked well.
Online ordering through Northern was easy. Shipping was quick and I had my heater in no time. Mounting, wiring and exhausting were straight forward. When I started up for the first time, it fired right up.
However, it seemed noisy from the exhaust blower. I was disappointed since most reviewers commented how quiet it was. I took the blower out and noticed it wobbled. I tried to straighten it and it was better but not quiet. It was a garage heater, what do you want?
I placed a comment on Mr. Heater's web site about the noisy exhaust blower, not expecting much. The reply I got was fast! Said they would like to send me a replacement blower. By the time I had replied they already took my information from the website and shipped me a new blower! I received it in about a week, and now the heater is perfectly quiet!
Some would rate the product lower for having problems initially. But the lightning fast way my concern was handled with no fuss conters any of the intitial problems with the unit. Besides, it worked well, now it works GREAT!"

Mr. Heater 75K BTU Heaters working great!,
February 5, 2008

"I purchased "two of everything" to install a pair of Mr. Heater BIG MAXX 75k BTU propane heaters in my newly constructed 5-bay, 2,220 Sq. Ft. workshop for muscle car restoration, and thought these heaters, exhaust kits, thermostats, propane line hook-up kits would do the trick. I couldn't be more pleased with the items. I made my own mounting brackets out of some round tubing and I welded a short piece of 3/8" bolt to one end, flattened out the other end and drilled two screw holes. The rods were attached to the ceiling joists. Exhaust kit included a 90-degree elbow and 36" length of b-vent, this ended up being the only pipe we needed to send the exhuast gasses out thru the side wall, terminating with the cap. Thermostats are simple, but effective. I would recommend these heaters to anyone wanting a simple, quality heater for their shop."

Great Value and Performance,
February 4, 2008

"I had my contractor install the unit while expanding my garage to 4-bays @ 40' x 32'. It's all insulated with a 20" high loft ceiling. I installed a 60" down-fan at the highest point and it really makes the heater run very effeciently. RI building code requires a seperate furnace (red) switch for the unit, and the electrician installed a service on/off switch directly to the side panel. In addition an emergency shut-off sensor was located above the unit.. Yes, you can run it without these precautions, but I feel safer knowing it's installed right. This was a great deal from Northern Tool, The unit works great and is quite. Two of my neighbors want one now. The past 2 weeks the temp has been 15 to 30 degrees but the garage is a comfortable 55 to 60. Wish I had bough this sooner!"

Maxx heater,

"installed the 75000 BTU heater this fall in a 14 x 40 x 12 shop. Its was easy to install and has plenty of capacity. I'm not in the shop every day so I turn it off when I leave so it can get pretty cold in there, (has been down to 15 in there) within 10 to 20 minutes the heater has it warmed up. Should have put it in years ago. I would recomend putting a thermastat on it that has an on/off setting, mine does not, so to keep it from running when I'm not going to be there for a few days and the temperture is going to be below 50 I have to turn the breaker off when I leave."

"I installed a 75000 btu Mr Heater in my garage, it is 40' by 50' with 12' ceilings and it does a very good job of controlling the heat. I keep it set at 55 degrees except in the evening when i am in it and it probaly runs me 5 or 6 hundred dallors a year. Im sure it would be cheaper if i shut it off but i like to keep it so i can warm it quickly."

"I have a 36'x40' detached garage with 10' ceiling. This heater keeps the space nice and warm. I thought it might be alittle under sized for my space but has performed quite well without alot of run time. I purchased the vent kit and thermostat with my heater and the good folks at Northern got them all right to me.Easy to hook up, I used my drywall lift (also purchased from Northern) to raise to ceiling. Very happy with everything, except the price of propane these days!"
