Get what you paid for,
August 18, 2008
By MarineTech

"I know they where cheap but come on! Half the bits were not tempered right and just bent on contact. No kidding I was bending them with my hands they were so soft. The plastic case keeps falling apart so when you pick it up the bits fly all over. Do your self a favor and fork out a little more for better bits."

Drill bit set,
August 11, 2008
By Dave1215
from Aurora Co
|
"Received the set quickly, but, was disappionted with the packaging....the top cover clips were broken and the bottom of the base had come loose, allowing the bits to fall out. Have used several of the bits, and hve no other complaints than those above"

"These bits cut through steel like a hot knife through butter. The price for the whole set is a steal. The case is the best drill bit organizer I have ever owned. Thanks."

Good drill bits for the price.,

"The drill bits are good for the price. I use them for occasional use & they seem fine. Used them for wood & steel & they got the job done. You shouldn't expect too much for a set of bits that large for under $10"

Advantek 62-Pc. Titanium Drill Bit Set,
April 15, 2008
By Handiman
from Ehrhardt, SC
|
"I tried to drill mild steel with two different drill bits, 1/2 & 1/4 inch sizes. Being an experienced machinist & degreed engineer, I was using a fixed drill press with a controlled speed to provide 100 surface per minute action on the drills. They labored excessively to get thru a depth of 1/8 inch. In my opinion, the circular grind on the cutting edges was not prepared properly and/or the tool steel used was to soft to maintain a cutting edge. Increasing the speed also provided no improvement."

"Better bits are out there, but not at this price. As long as these are used carefully, they certainly do the job"

Cheap and cheaper,
January 21, 2008
By Techstar

"This is a low-priced drill bit set - for what you pay you think you are getting a bargain but what you are getting is a box of garbage. My first time using this set, I took a 5/16" bit to enlarge a hole in a trailer rail - mild steel - and the bit wore down visibly on this first hole. The next bit I tried was the 1/8" - I tried drilling the trailer rail with my hand drill and the bit bent back like the letter V! I have never seen a drill bit bend like that before - if anything, they break - this indicates the bits do not have any temper whatsoever. At that point I brought these back. At least the manager at my local store stood behind the product and gave me a refund. Save your money - this is a good illustration of the usually true adage that you get what you pay for - or less."
