Good protection, but not for long.,

"These chaps are first rate for safety, but almost every (plastic) clip that holds them on has broken. I wear them whenever I pick up the saw, and cut a minimum of 3 cords of wood each year. This is my second year with these chaps, but will have to replace them if I cannot figure out how to mend the clips. Unlike other reviewers, I have not had a problem with the fit (5'10"/155 lbs.) Warning: mice love the innards for nests!"

Paid for itself already!!!,

"I bought these as i do a lot of chainsawing, cut and split my own wood for heat in VT. I was cutting a dirtbike trail, it was loaded with vines, The saw was spinning and a vine caught my leg and the saw came down on my knee. The chaps stopped the blade instantly, as cut through the nylon and caught in the fiberous innners of the chaps. I would not have cut my leg off, but I would have definatly been on the way to the ER for stitches and lost alot of blood as I am 45 minutes away. I hope it never happens again and I taped it shut. They are good to go again. I don't like the way they slide outward on my legs and I hope they break in and stay in place. My femoral artory can become exposed. Still a great nesesaty for any logger. OT"

"These things were a waste of money. Eventually I had to tear them apart and sew them on to an old pair of overalls. The were bagging and sagging all over. It was hard to walk around in them."

"I have used these chaps several times under different conditions and find that they are: * Easy to put on and adjust. * Comefortable * Lightweight I would deffinately recommend these chaps to other homeowners as a necessary piece of safety equipment."

Chain Saw Chaps,
April 14, 2008
By gw4721
from Carroll County, Maryland

"I purchased these for myself after watching a friend cut his leg with a chain saw. I have used a chainsaw for 20 years and never gave a second thought as to the type of injury they could inflict. He nearly lost his life after a 7" long 5" deep gash to his thigh. These chaps are well made, and quick to put on but I hope I never have to see just how well they work."

"These chainsaw chaps are of good quality and appear to be very safe. They are a little long in the legs, but work well and are easy to adjust."

chainsaw chaps,

"I really feel an extra sense of comfort wearing these now when I am using my saw. They are a little hot and bulky, but if it saves months of therapy and scar tissue, I'm game for that."

Chainsaw Chaps,
October 29, 2007
By HiJos

"These things were awful. They kept falling down and slipping. I eventually wrapped them around my legs with a handy roll of duct tape, but you can only do that so many times. Maybe another body type would work with these, but mine (5' 9", 260 lbs) was not good at all."

"The chaps had a big red AO Safety logo on them, which make them look foolish. I would be embarrassed to wear them, and they are still in the box....."
