ok, but could be much better,
June 8, 2008

"I used this blast cabinet at work for six months. There are some good and bad points:
Good points: 1. Good internal work area 2. Strong work surface inside 3. Quality construction
Bad points:
1. Lack of light. The single lightbulb is not enough light. I mounted a single bulb 40 watt flouresent light bulb in the cabinet that helped a lot. I could have used another flouresent bulb, at least. 2. The clam shell design leaves a lip around the top. When you lift the top to access your just blasted parts, abrasive falls onto your parts. If you have already blown the sand off the parts, this requires you to clean them again. Also, it kicks up a lot of dust. Also, some of the abrasive ends up on the floor. 3. The angle of the funnel on the bottom is not sloped enough. I would have to stop periodically to kick the funnel to knock the sand down so the siphon had enough media."

ALC has POOR customer service,
March 9, 2008

"Let me first say this review should in no way reflect on Northern Tool, they have always treated me well.
ALC has the worst customer service I have experienced in quite some time. When I received the cabinet I realized they shipped the wrong 31" legs, there should have been two opposite pair, not four the same, so I called ALC directly like the included paperwork instructed, gave them the part number of the incorrect parts and waited. A week later I called back and the legs had not even shipped yet, not to mention I'm in PA and they're in Ohio, that's two-three day shipping ground UPS, so I should have had them already. A few days later I received a box from them with every frame piece except the ones I ordered. I looked at the packing slip and it had the correct 31" legs listed on it but that's not what was in the box, so I called again. They asked if I could just cut and drill the pieces I received and I said yes but for the money I paid for this thing I shouldn't have to. They said they would check into it and get back to me, which to be fair they did do, but they said they didn't know how this happened and the correct legs would ship that day or the next. Five days later I called again and they still had not shipped. At the time of this review I'm still waiting. They say they're on the way but I should see soon. I've had this cabinet for almost a month now and I still can't even assemble it. On this experience alone I wouldn't recommend ANY ALC product to anyone.
As far as the cabinet itself goes the light kit is a joke. I could easily build something nicer with parts purchased from a regular hardware store and I will have to do. The fit and finish of the cabinet is pretty rough but I guess I can overlook that given the intended use of this tool. I'll update this review once I get to use the cabinet."

ALC Blast Cabinet,

"Pros 1. I like the large cabinet sixe, it enables me to blast large items. 2. I like the construction material, the high impact plastic case makes it worry free, even in an outdoor installation like mine. 3. I like the large window. Good view of entire cabinet. 4. I like that it comes with a port for connecting a vacuum hose for dust evacuation.
1. The assembly instructions were not very detailed, pictures would help. 2. The gun nozzle has worn out already and I don't have very many hours on it. 3. The suction tube works pretty good, but I think an external suction fitting on the bottom would work better, I have this on a suction pot blaster and it works really well. 4. The light kit it a must, but I think if it was moved to overhead or on th back, it would be more beneficial/affective."

A Good Start for the Money,
July 19, 2007
By TommyA

"There are a few upgrades that I would like to make to get better results however, it is a good start to having a large blasting cabinet. One upgrade involves the lighting included with the package is not sufficient as stated by the previous reviewer. Instead of moving I would add additional lighting to the other end of the cabinet . One sixty watt bulb is not nearly enough for this 48" hulk. The cabinet has a self on the upper portion that collects media during the blast session and it falls on the work piece when opened. By simply putting a flap of rubber or medal edging to let the media fall to the bottom portion would solve this problem. There are many good things about the cabinet that far out-weight the bad and are easy to correct. Just be sure to have a good size area for placement of the unit. You have to remember that the top fold open to the backside and requires twice the depth of the cabinet to allow using the rear top rest."

Sand Blast Cabinet,

"I like the cabenet very much. I suggest three improvements. Adding a port to the right side to accomadate a vacume system. Increase the size of the air input port to permit use of the vacume system. Add or move the light to the right front corner of the upper cabinet. The present location in the left rear creates a shadow on the work area."
