Great to keep by the drill press,

"These reduced shank drills are a great value. They aren't the greatest material, but they are clearly made for occasional use. If you drill a lot of large holes in steel you shouldn't be buying S & D style drills anyway. You will have a high enough horsepower machine to handle taper shank drills. I keep them by my drill press where they are usually used to "open up" holes rather than drill from the solid. Even then, I usually have to use two or three of these drills to step up to the size I ultimately need, simply because my 5/8 inch drill press diesn't have the torque to make that big a hole all at once. These drills allow me to do quickly on the drill press jobs that would take much longer if I have to set them up on the milling machine.
The wooden box isn't a very elaborate affair. It clearly isn't meant to transport the tools in a toolbox simply because it doesn't hold the drills very securely. The divider is a very weak material, almost foam, that allows the drills to shift position and contact each other if handled any way but in the flat orientation. I didn't buy them for the box though, and it is perfactly adequate to keep the drills clean and separated near the drill press."

Great for the occasional user,

"Probably not the quality of bits that a machinist would chose to use on a day to day basis, but for someone (like me) who occasionally needs to drill larger than 1/2 " holes in metal, this set is a great value!"

"These are a good deal for light drilling needs. Realize they are not cobalt or HSS. Use only on soft metals and free cutting steels, turn them slowly and they will last."
