ugly but loveable, August 22, 2008

"I received this set for Christmas (at my request) several years ago and I have been using them with really good results ever since. Functionally, and packaging wise this set deserves a 5 star but the sockets are so crudely finished that I couldn't make myself do it. The black oxide finish is rough, multicolored, and irregularly applied. Having said that, I've seen absolutely no rust develop in spite of the fact that the set (and its metric twin) lives in the lowest drawer of my rolling cabinet.

The sockets uniformly fit nuts and bolts well and being 6 point, I've never had an instance of rounding nuts or bolt heads. The sockets show no wear after several years of rather rough machine maintenance service.

The sockets are well and durably packaged in a steel box (I think the plastic referred to in the catalog description is for the nest) that is still perfectly serviceable after having been bumped to the ground from tractor tires etc.

This is the only deep SAE 1/2 inch impact socket set I own and I have no regrets. I'd recommend this set to anybody."
