Great for Home Use,
August 2, 2008
By Rand

"I'm about to buy my 2nd AgriFab 125 lb. capacity spreader....note that I specified the 125 lb. model, since I would not recommend the lesser capacity models. I got 8 years out of my first one, which I used for spreading lime/fertilizer on my 4 acres of fields each year. Only the nylon gear wore out after all that time. The locking mechanism that controls the release opening also wore out. I was thinking about just replacing those parts, but thought I'd buy a new one and save the old one for parts. Great for heavy home use...I did not try spreading salt with it, but am sure it would be great for that use too. I simply washed it after every use and never had a problem with rust...and I spread a lot of lime with it! Up to one ton per year! Have no worries about this model."

Agri-Fab Walk Behind Broadcast Spreader — 125-Lb.,

"Spreader is not sturdy enough to warrant the price as the handle will twist even with 40# of fertilizer. Where the handle attaches to the axel is the weak link. I returned for a refund after 1st use. For this price range consider another brand."

Don't buy cheap,

"Thinking the cheap plastic broadcast spreader would serve my purposes, I bought one with plastic legs and enclosed nylon? gears. Going up and down hills caused the hole frame to warp and putting pressure on the gears. The binding of the gears shortened its life to 2 seasons. This Agri-Fab has the steel frame that can support the weight and keeps the gears from binding. The aluminum gear set will hopefully have a much longer lifespan. We have spread everything from ice melt to fertilizer and has been very dependable."

"this is the spreader to buy , espicially for your home . has the ability to do small to big yards with ease . has big rubber wheels which makes it easy to push over rough terrane . made with allumium so it want fall apart on those real tough jobs . The two best features about this product is one the price . if you do your home work and shop aroud you wwill find a product like this would normally cost about 80.00 to 150.00 more. The second is it comes with a great warranty . which lets you know the company will stand behind this product"

"A very high quality, commercial grade broadcast spreader. The large capacity hopper (125 lbs.) holds enough product to cover most lawns with a single load. Makes yard work fun!...Just kidding!!!"

Agri-Fab Spreader,

"This is the best spreader I have ever owned. Throws twice as far, and holds twice as much as other spreaders. That means half the time on the job! I have used these spreaders for seven years now, my only suggestion is that you wash it out right after you use it to keep it from rusting up. And lubricate it after it dries. It will give you years of great use."

"this spreader is easy to assemble and easy to calibrate. the rectangular design puts most of the weight on the tires, and not on you. the gears are metal and not plastic making it easy to clean and lubricate."
