Briggs and Stratton engine,
May 11, 2008
By MJF79from West Virginia
"Bought this engine for a home built belt driven generator. The ball bearing PTO appealed to me, as well as the Briggs reputation. This little engine runs great. Starts quite easily, sips fuel, and has plenty of power. It fit my needs with its adjustable speed allowing me to idle my generator for maximum fuel consumption on light loads yet speed it up with a heavy load. Can't be beat for the price. Northern tool had it on sale, and it was shipped quickly to me. I have bought from Northern in the past and will continue to do so. Great people to deal with"

Briggs & Stratton engine,
April 14, 2008
By jake177from NY
"I purchased this engine for my wood splitter which is quite old. This purchase was a good move. The engine starts with one or two pulls, runs very quiet, idles down good and smoothly. It was well worth the money. I would recommend it to anybody."

Briggs & Stratton Intek Horizontal Engine — 5.5 HP,
January 21, 2008
By jdyerfrom Maine
"I ordered this Briggs & Stratton engine to replace the one on a wood splitter that my extended family and I have used for many years. It was delivered promptly, was exactly as described in the literature, and installed easily. It has worked beautifully this season in splitting over fifteen cord of stovewood. It still invariably starts on the second pull whether hot or cold. We could not be happier with the unit"

"This motor starts and runs really well. Its quiet. We are using it as a replacement motor on a Craftsman rear tine rototiller. The price and service at Northern is the best we have found on the market. We're coming back for more tools this month also."

B&S 5.5 HP Engine,
January 14, 2008
By JSamJrfrom Bedminster, NJ
"Received the B&S Intek 5.5 hp engine only a few days after ordering. Mounted the engine, filled it up with oil and gas and gave it a pull. It started on the second try and has been running well ever since."

"I needed an engine for a log splitter that is used a few days a year (all day on those days) and so far these seems to be worth it. My only concern was the amount of plastic used on it."

"I was knee deep in leaves at my home in the woods. We have over 10 acres of dense woods. I mow about three of those acres. Every fall I use my E-Z VAC leaf sucker to make short work of millions of leaves. The very old Brigs 4hp engine just wouldn't start this past fall. I think moisture got into the ignition. I had no time to get it repaired. So I ordered the 5.5hp from Northern. It arrived just in time. I mounted it on my machine and after adding oil and fuel , it started on the second pull. I managed to get my leaf carpet sucked up just before things turned wet and cold. The engine performed effortlessly and with no problem what so ever. My father was an old time mechanic. In his day, he worked on everything from Model t's ,b24 Liberators, Tractors, Busses, and everything in between. For the money : he would say,: you can't do any better than a briggs & Stratton. I believe my dad was right. Briggs is still a good engine at a fair price"
