"I actually loaded the hand winch with a 2"x20ft. strap and it's handling beautifully. It's simple yet rugged design made it a perfect solution for my boat. I'm glad I chose this product and saved some money over the competition's model."

"This winch is very easy to mount and use and is a great value for the price paid. I used it for pulling up a radio antenna and mast 40 feet into the air."

This Hand Winch Cranks !,

"Nice, compact unit that is well constructed. Includes special clamps to secure line if you're using a steel cable. Easy to install and to use. Slight problem with one of the mounting bolt hole locations being too close to the gear locking mechanism but there are 5 holes to choose from."

Easy Boat Lift Installation,
July 9, 2007
By Copper

"I searched many stores for the right size winch with a reasonable price, and found it with Northern. I use these hand winches mounted to float tubes, and than float them over my lift, hook up and winch it up and float it with little effort to the proper location without pushing or pulling. The winch was the exact size and capacity, and works GREAT,for the application. The price was very reasonable and service was fast and dependable from Northern. Highly recommend both the product and Northern!!"

Not all there,

"The winch itself appears decent, but it was designed for cable use only. The spool cannot be opened up to allow use of a strap (which was recommended), so I had to modify it by tapping some holes to hold the strap. Also there were almost no instructions and it did not come with mounting hardware."

Small Hand Winch,
November 17, 2006
By GunnerG

"I have two 10ft. long vents in the ridge of my shop. Each came with a small chain to open and close the vent, but they hang down in the way most of the time. Solution...this small (very inexpensive) winch. I connected both vent operating levers together with 1/8" cable and then ran this to a pulley mounted on an end wall then to this winch. WOW...three to four easy turns of the handle fully opens or closes both vents at the same time!"
