"I had recently purchased a chain saw sharpener at a local store. Being the only one avaliable and being desperate I knew I paid too much at $ 69.95. Imagine my feeling when I saw the same product in my Northern Tool catalogue for less than twenty dollars. I returned the other tool and ordered from Northern. This is not a high quality tool, but is very simple to use. I have made a mess of my saw chain with a file or hand sharpener on many occasions and with much effort. Two words.... Quick and sharp. I have had to purchase higher quality stones elsewhere. The stones I recieved from Northern came apart sending pieces flying....Wear safety glasses!"

"I cut lots of fire wood and with this product I can keep my chains sharp easily which makes my saws cut much faster and more efficiently. This product is so much faster than sharpening a chain by hand. I wish I had bought it years ago."

"I used to sharpen my chains by hand and get them done by a professional once in awhile. I thought this little tool might just be handy for all the firewood that I cut in a year. It worked so well that I can get the work done much faster. I can sharpen my chains in the woods by attaching it to my atv battery. Nice tool."

saves your knuckles,

"Realy great for in the field emergencies. Just dont try too do 3 or more chainsaws at the same time. (It tends too get a little too hot) The flat wings keep you from putting a bad angle on your tooth and the angle lines help you too keep them straight. It is a little of a drag changing stones for different chains but no less than changing files when hand sharpening. You dont run your knuckles into the newly sharpened tooth when some one breaks your concentration either. By the time you do one chainsaw your fingers are numb, but not bleeding."

Chain Saw Sharpener??,
June 1, 2007
By KyYankee

"This has the quality of a cheap imported toy. The motor lock does not work, making it impossible to change sharpening stone. Directions are poor with pictures difficult to see, or understand. Stone broke on first attempt to use sharpener. Correct size replacement stones not available from Northern. Spend the $ and get something with quality."

"I've long used a hand file think that there was some sort of purity in doing a job by hand. My kids gave me this little device for Christmas. I have to say that it makes quick work out of sharpening! I think the hand file will get a little rest from here on out..."

"I purchases this chainsaw sharpener because it looked simple enough for me to use. I hook power to my battery terminal on my Utility Vehicle and sharpen the chains on the saws just before the guys need it. Saves me time and money and it's very simple to use. Great Product......Highly Recommended!!!!!!"

"The tool works, but not very well as the chuck doesn't tighten enough. It might be good for grinding callouses off the heel of your foot."

poor at best,

"Sharpener was one of the most poor tools that I own. I was better off to use a file to sharpen my chain. The spinning shaft was bent causing the stone to spin off center also causing the stones to break on contact with the chain. Poor design for tighting the mandrel. Over you get what you pay for, not much!"
