Is better than more expensive models,
August 18, 2008
By Weldinspectorfrom High Point, North Carolina
"I got this product to check for preheat on materials to be welded. This works great. We have one at work that cost $400.00 and does no better than this one does."

Pocket Thermometer,
April 15, 2008
By THECatfrom Cottage Grove,MN
"Handy little gadget to have around. Don't use it everyday but works nice to find out chimney temperatures, wood stove temps, radiator hoses on the car and just whatever comes up on a day to day basis. Easy to use, just point and click. Dont' have to be so close that you even feel the heat in those hard to reach places."

Poor Range,

By Grifffiefrom SC
"We found the range to be shorter than desired. Great at close up to the equipment. Poor for looking for hot spots on a radiator"

Pocket thermo,
April 14, 2008
By Fishingpole1962from Blair Nebraska
"I love it it works great a great product for the money. I have a friend that has the much more expensive model and mine works just as good. The only thing I don't like about it is that I did not buy 2 because my wife is using it for checking cooking temps. By the way it does work good for that also."

Cheap but works..,
January 15, 2008
By TODP1from Dryden, Michigan
"For the price and the ease of use, it works.... problem is, it is a cheap unit. You have a 1 to 1 ratio of distance for using it, nowhere in the add does it tell you this till you buy it... this means you have to place the unit less than an inch away from what ever you are trying to read! NOT so good on HOT items for the unit being plastic or your fingers holding it! Spend the extra and buy a better unit with a memory, 2-4 to 1 ratio and an audibil signal when reading is done... yea they cost more, but there worth it! Now I have two, should have saved my money towards the good one!"

pretty good little thermometer,
October 9, 2007
By timfromabiquiufrom Abiquiu, NM
"I bought this unit to determine the temperature of my outdoor adobe oven (aka "horno") for baking bread. It's just right for that application since anything over 425-450 degrees is too hot for the bread. If you need to measure any higher temps, look into a real thermocouple. It is also very small and easy to just slip into your pocket to whip out for an instant reading and to impress your friends and neighbors.
This unit was well worth the money for my application -- check it out."

PocketTherm IR Thermometer,
October 8, 2007
By DanJEfrom East Central Alabama
"Bought PocketTherm in prep for winter experiments with wood gasification temperature measurements but use it for tractor engine temp monitoring as well as other engine temp monitoring. Saves much money by eliminating requirement for expensive engine temperature gauges on multiple engines. I use it indoors and out for everything from checking the cooking oil temp for fish fries as well as BBQ."

Great little tool,
October 8, 2007
By PaulSfrom Las Vegas
"This is a great little device and a wonderful bargain. I used it to keep tabs on my brakes as I came down mountains pulling my trailer. It really works great and it is nice not to have to touch the hot wheels to see if the brakes are overheating. I only wish I'd bought two of them since my wife keeps trying to take this to use in the kitchen to see if pans are at the right temp. I'll buy another of these with my next order."

Tiny titan,
October 8, 2007
By Sawtoothsamfrom Stanley, ID
"Non-contact temperature measurement handles tricky measurements with ease. Want to know if the fuel storage tank is warm enough to paint with a product that requires a minimum surface temperature, no problem. You have the temperature in seconds. Don't forget to check the shady side. Check stove surface temperatures. Check preheat temperatures. Battery life should be very long since it is only on when you push the button to take the temperature and a few seconds afterward to read the results, then it turns itself off. Very small and compact. Don't misplace it."

pocket therm,
October 8, 2007
By Robert37from colorado
"The device is quick and easy to use. It has a great size and easily fits in your tool box. The only complaint I have is that it is about 4 degrees off. I think the detection element is mounted to far down in the tube and it gives a reading a reading that is not as accurate as it could be. Otherwise, a very simple tool to use."
