Fantastic Hose Cart,
April 21, 2008
By BobbyL

"I purchased two of these (special order) from Northern Tools. I did a lot of research on hose carts and found this to be the best. This brand also has a model with 4 wheels for those of you that move your cart often. For my usage, the 2 wheel model is what I wanted since I still have the capability to move it around should I want to. All aluminum construction means never rusting. This is heavy duty, and easy to reel in the hose...I use a 100 foot hose. The tires are pneumatic which makes rolling this much easier than solid rubber wheels. The hose fittings are heavy duty solid brass. This unit will outlive you! Yes, some places sell hose carts cheaper, but they are made of steel, and they WILL RUST in time. You will not be disappointed, and easy assembly."

Rapid Reel,

"I purchased the two wheel and four wheel versions of the Rapid Reel several months ago. I have been thoroughly impressed with the quality and versatility of both units. The construction is superb and the utility for residential use is outstanding. A few weeks after my purchase, I ran over the frame of the four wheel unit with my tractor. The accident broke the axle stud on the frame, but when I contacted the manufacturer, they didn't hesitate to send me the replacement part. I would wholeheartedly recommend both units to those of you who are always searching for a quality hose reel that can withstand the elements and normal abuse."

Time & Frustration Saver,
October 8, 2007
By rebel390

"I bought one of these fine units for myself and it worked so well for me, I bought a second one for a friend!
It is very well designed, and utilizes quality materials throughout. Assembly is straightforward and easily done in a half hour. The price seems high compared to the cheaply constructed plastic models you see in the local discount stores, but this one will outlast 20 of those units. This may be the last reel you'll ever need to purchase... unless you want to add to your collection!
Some minor bad points: After 1 year of outside service in the summer (stored in garage during winter), I had to put green slime in the tires to fix a flat. Not uncommon for small utility tires like these. The black supply hose looks like it developed some small cracks, maybe from sun damage, no leaks though. On uneven ground or in a soft mulch bed, the unit tends to get tippy when reeling/unreeling. If you have to regularly use it on these unstable surfaces, I'd opt for the more stable four wheeled verion instead. It looks to have a better center of gravity.
The biggest benefit of this unit for me is the time and frustration saved when it comes time to remove and rewind the hose. Fabulous. Very easy to just grab the hose end and walk to your destination 100 feet away. Seems like just a few easy cranks of the wheel and your 100 foot 5/8" dia hose is neatly back in place! That's exactly what a hose reel should do for you, and this one does just that."

Rapid Reel GH164CT Review...,
October 8, 2007
By Toolman999

"Don't even think about not buying this... All I can think about is all the plastic hose reels that are sitting in garbage dumps right now. I think someone should be arrested for being allowed to make garbage like that. After you see this one, you'll understand. * This thing goes against everything out there right now. It has zero deficiencies, it's a pleasure to use, doesn't drop a drip, and it's built like a tank! 100% worth every cent and you'll NEVER have to buy another. The only downside is that you'll want to buy several for other applications around the house."

Finally a hose reel that works,
July 9, 2007

"From the straight forward and clear instructions for assembly to the solid metal construction and good design, this is a well engineered product that is dependable and functional. The cart can be easily moved even when carrying a full load of hose, the hose can be pulled out without tipping the cart over, and winding up 100 feet or more of hose is suprisingly easy. Throw away the plastic and go for a heavy duty reel with one suprising feature, it does not leak! We liked it so much I just got my second one."

Well Made,

By farmhand

"Had it for six months and it's still like brand new - it's built to last. Foot step and ability to reel in quickly are really excellent. One minor annoyance is that the handle has some movement in the connection to the cart rather than being rigid. Also, make sure you can accomodate the length of hose you will need. Lastly, there should be a quick, yet secure place to hook both ends of the hose after reeling it in so that they don't fall off into the dirt, but there isn't as far as I can tell."
