By VWDanvillefrom Danville, CA
"Rapid Reel hose reels are the best hose reels ever! Hands down! Moved again recently and had to buy another to replace the one left at the old house. This must be the fourth one I've bought. Will never buy another brand of hose reel again. These are very well made!"

Rapid Reel,
August 11, 2008
By RioDinofrom Minneapolis, MN
"This is my 3rd Rapid Reel. I really like them compared to anything else on the market. No cheap plastic. The mounting system is really solid and pretty easy and fast to assemble. Solid rust free aluminum casting gives a long life. The water connections do not leak. This is a really good product, well worth the difference in cost versus the cheap plastic big-box store offerings."

"This reel works very well reeling in the hose. There is some problem with it fitting all hose that cause a kink at the connection"

Not for quiet neighborhoods,
June 4, 2008
By HandySamfrom Syracuse, NY
"Definitely heavy-duty. Should last forever but a couple of things are not considered: First, there is no spooling guide so winding up the hose evenly must be done with the free hand, being rather messy if the hose has been dragged through the dirt. While doing this, care must be taken that the hose lays evenly with no twisting because of the weight on top of the first few rows can easily damage or kink a cheap hose. Secondly, you may miss the convenient tray on top if you are replacing one of the cheaper plastic reels that usually has that feature, so there's no place to put extra nozzles, etc.. Thirdly, it is not the most attractive design - does not blend with the house at all. Last but perhaps not least, there are two sources of noise that may be of concern: the built-in adjustable brake makes a loud "click" every half-turn of spooling - enough to wake your neighbor if they're out in the hammock. The other noise is very surprising in that you hear the water rushing through the unit quite well, all the while being amplified by the metal cone-shaped reel ends and the wall that the unit is bolted onto. Also, requires assembly but not difficult at all."

wall mounted hose reel,
April 21, 2008
By northernfanfrom St. Louis, Mo.
"N T E item # 160149 This cast aluminum hose reel is the best I have ever used. I struggled with several of the cheaper plastic types from the big box stores only to have them operate with great difficulty or fall apart. This reel rolls very smoothly even with 150 ft of hose out and automatically winds level due to the cone tapered drum. Great product."

Worth every penny.,

"This is a very sturdy reel and is obviously well made. Included screws, bolts, etc. are stainless steel. The reel works very well and can hold a lot of hose. Works equally well with a little hose or fully loaded. I've had one of these for three years and it looks brand new. Just bought another for the front yard."
