Excellent Driver Set,
May 7, 2008
By KCGramp

"Bought kit from Northern, and it was delivered on time and in great shape. I bought this kit to primarily replace a 9.6 volt Makita I'd owned for 9 years. The difference was mind bending. The driver runs 3.5 inch "Deck Mate" screws endlessly, one after another. I bought a 3/8th square drive to "speed Lock" adapter and it runs 5/16th lags......pre-drilled no problems. Yet the variable speed trigger control is sensitive enough to control driving 3/4" #8's. The little LED light is very handy. The amount of power in this compact and comparably light weight package is just amazing. A big plus for me is the impact ability to drive large or long # 2 phillips without "walking out" of the screw head which allows the use of these more common and less expensive screws compared to thorx or square drive. The 1/2 inch drill is a major upgrade for me but I'll confess I only use it for non "Speed Lock" bits. Otherwise It's always the impact first. Battery duty cycle and recycle time have been very favorable. The light it my first fluorescent and it is far handier than just a regular incandescent or LED flashlight when it comes to actually providing light to work by. In the "Value" department.....I think I paid about $125.00 for that old 9.6 volt w/ a charger and 2 batteries nearly 10 years ago. And I priced impacts in the 12 and 14 volt ranges at over $170.00 w/ a charger and 1 battery, Lithium's are running about $100.00 higher. So this kit is a "no brainer" for me in the "value dept". TIP: buy a third battery, you'll have no problem getting your money's worth out of it if you use this set as much as I do."

Can't go wrong for the money,
April 23, 2008
By JBGuinness

"These tools are excellent quality as you would expect from Makita. This kit has the best batteries. Look around, similar 14.4v kits give you half the battery power of the 2.6Ah that are included here. Heck, they even came charged and I used the drill/driver for three projects before I had to recharge. You simply can't go wrong for the money."

Impact Driver,
April 23, 2008
By cheesehead14

"The impact driver is the best cordless tool. When driving screws, it outperforms cordless drills. The glow in the dark ring makes it easy to reach when working in dark crawl spaces. The LED light illuminates the screw head and makes it easier to find the head on those screw heads.
The impact driver is light and has tremendous torque power.
The light and 1/2" drill is much handier than the corded version.
I recommend this tool set to all my handyman friends."

excellent drill kit,
April 21, 2008

"I have two of these drill kits that I use for my side business. I like the driving power and RPM of the impact, and the small size of the impact driver is a big plus too. I thought the LED light was a bit gimmicky at first, having necver had one on any drilll I have owned, but have grown to appreciate its usefullness quite quickly in dark cabinets.
The batteries last for a long time, and recharge quickly. The only thing I would change is that I wish the kit had come with a third battery.
The flourescent light puts out good illumination, and I find myself using it a lot."

"I have alot of the Makita tools and this one is just as great and gets the job done. The impact driver is awesome. My father in law is a cabinet builder and has Makita but didn't have the impact driver and really liked it. He is going to buy one. Makita brand you just can't live without."

"I have had this kit about a year. I have to say, its great, the driver will drive hundreds of screws on a single battery, the light will shine for hours and the drill is sized correctly for the majority of things people do. This kit is great, I'm ordering another for my crew."

Great set,

"I have been using this set for over a year. Works perfectly. The impact driver gets a lot of use and has never let me down. Runs a long time on one charged battery. The drill is not that strong and rarely gets used but it nice for smaller jobs. I like the locking chuck on the drill."
