Power my pond with solar!,

"I bought this and the charge controller to convert my backyard pond to solar. With the use of a 750 watt inverter, I am trying to run an aerator, a pump/filter, and a 150watt heater in the winter. My electric bill was very high this winter with the heater running to keep my pond from freezing and killing my koi's. So far it seems to work great! It took about 40 hours to initially charge the 12v battery, but is now keeping it charged up.
I am also interested in setting up another system to power my 12 volt exterior house lights, possibly my medical equipment, and with a larger system eventually convert my house to totally solar and possibly even sell electricity back to power company.
This unit is very well constructed, (glass and aluminum). It does not have LED's as listed in the directions, but has a test led. I bought a cheap auto cigarette lighter extension cord and cut off female end and wired it into charge controller, so all I have to do is plug in the male plug.
This solar panel has no mounting hardware. I had to construct my own mounting system with angle iron and 90 degree brackets. It works and is very solid."

"I keep my old, infrequently used backhoe parked out in the back forty. I've had this charger hooked up for the last few months, and now the diesel fires right up even after weeks of sitting, even in cold weather. Great product!"

Solar Panel 350 ma,
January 15, 2008
By RemodelProfrom San Leandro, CA
"Just finished installing this little solar panel on the roof of my garden shed. I use it to charge a motorcycle battery inside the shed which powers my low voltage shed lights.
The picture doesn't really do this panel justice - it is really well made. It arrived in a full aluminum frame (easy to drill and mount brackets - not included). Also had plastic corner protectors and a reasonably thick glass front.
I tested the water proof rating by submerging it for a while in a laundry sink full of water before I drilled into the roof of my shed. Absolutely water tight.
Output voltage was about 20v, which met my expectations. I coupled it with the little charge regulator - also on the Northern site, and I am getting great results.
For the shed lights I used Northern's hitch-mount backup light kit. Came with two halogen lamps on adjustable brackets. Turned out great, and puts out lots of light in the shed. All I had to do was modify the wiring harness.
On the down side, this solar panel has no mounting hardware. You will have to get your own angle pieces. Wiring consists of a 10' long permanently attached cord with a large connector on one end. To put it down a small hole you will have to cut the plug off and get busy with a soldering iron and shrink tubing to put it back on. Not a big deal if you are expecting it, but if you aren't, you will need to buy crimp fittings to finish your project if you connect this to the charge regulator.
Good luck with your project!"

"seems to be working fine but it didn't come with a solar charge controller. I wish I had known that prior to buying."

"I love this little trickle charging solar panel. I installed it to charge a 12 volt marine battery I'm using to power my Mighty Mule gate opener. Believe it or not, but the solar panel does a great job...rain or shine. It keeps my battery topped off nicely. I highly recommend it !"

"The Solar panel 350 MA was very efficient in charging batteries for lighting our cabin. It worked well even on cloudy days. We charged two 12 volts batteries in parallel and used lights for about 4 hours. This configuration work very well in the bush of Canada!"
