Arcan Hydraulic Shop Press — 20-Ton, Model# SPB20,

"I shopped around for a Hydrualic Press and found there was a large price jump between the 20 ton presses and the next larger size up. Of all the 20 ton presses I looked at, only the Arcan 20 ton press had sufficient distance (7-1/4") between the front and rear channels of the press bed. This is important if you plan on servicing front wheel drive wheel bearings and need this room for the hub to pass through between the channels. All the other presses were to narrow between the press bed channels to permit pressing of wheel bearing/hub assemblies and were a limiting factor on what could and could not be done. Plus being a stout welded assembly was nice when compared to the bolt together units in the same price range. Because of the price gap between the 20 ton presses and the next size up, it was still less expensive to have this unit shipped across the country, rather than buy a larger press locally for more money that still did not have sufficient room between the press bed channels and was not a solid welded unit.

"I measured the pressure across the pressing beam and it was found to be uniform all the way caross. The pressing mandrel is very strong alloy steel.
The frame will endure the rated load and then some. The table is well designed with a channel to allow you to press where you want to - and not on extraneous parts (for example, if plastic is directly behind where the load is to be directed, then another piece of the part to be pressed can take the load - not the plastc part.).
If your're rebuilding your own cars or motorcycles, this press will save you a lot of time and money - spent running up to the machine shop all the time. Twenty tons seems like a lot but you will eventually have a need that much force - guaranteed.
All Arcan jacking products are excellent, Arcan products a a bit more expensive than a well-known import brand (a brand that features bright red products) - Arcan quality is much, much higher, all across the board."

"The Arcan press definitely is true to its description of being a rugged and properly designed unit. I shopped around and compared its construction and reviews to those in a lower price range and came back to this press as I am certain it will be around for a lifetime.
Overall quality is top notch, although I would have liked to see an American made bottle jack included for this price. Press did come press plates, bearing cup and a hardened press block which I believe is also sold separate on the website.
Shipment did take a full three (3) weeks, but product was packaged very well and arrived without damage."

"We were searching for a quality USA made shop press rather than wasting time and money on low grade imports. We are very happy with the quality, construction, and operation of this press. The construction is much heavier and therefore less flexible than some other imported "20 Ton" presses. The cost was very reasonable considering the quality construction of the press. We have removed several large 6" + bronze bushings on a 1963 bottle filler which the press handled with ease. I would recommend this press or other Arcan presses to anyone that wants a quality press.. not a cheap imitation."
