Not bad for occasional use,

"My wife bought this for me as a present. When it arrived the case was all cracked up inside because it is the cheap hard type plastic. The oil can was bent from the parts faling around in the case. I threw out the oil can and use wd-40 because the oil can leaks and is of poor quality. I have used the threader for 1/2" ridged conduit. It worked rather well. The only problems are the head is a little big for the smaller dies and the handle is a pain to put together every time you neede to use it. I am an electrician that does some commercial work but don't have a need yet for anything more than this tool. If you need to thread a couple of pipes a year this is the threader for you."

Limited Use,

"I have only used the product to clean out rusted threads for 2-inch and 3/4-inch pipes. It worked well in those applications. Problems with the tool include: (1) The oil can is pretty much useless. It leaks out if tipped, and it will be tipped whenever it is put away in the case. (2) The handle is in several pieces that must be screwed together every time it is used, and it is difficult to screw the couplings onto the handle extensions. If one side of each coupling were permanently attached to one of the handle extensions, this would reduce such problems, without having any adverse impact on the tool's usefulness."

"Product is ok and works fine if you use a lot of cutting oil. If you try to force it the threads will come out all messed up. If you take your time it works all right. Product is ok for Home Handyman who only needs it a few times a year."

"I purchase my Threading Tool Kit from Northern Tool + Equipment as for the price i get much more for my money, including an Oil Can which i can use to put Cutting Oil to lubricate the cutting Dies.
My Threading Tool works well and i would recommend it to any one being professional or not; as well as those working on a budget."

good stuff!,

"Whether home handyman or commercial contractor, it is an extreme hassle to run a job without a good old tristand chainvise and a pipe threader close at hand. Fubar'd some threads on some 2" conduit? No need to remove the piece, carry it to the equipment trailor and chase the threads or use a threadfile through lunch hour. Just whip out the Northern ratcheting pipe threader and chase those threads.
I live on a remote ranch. While I may at times dream of owning a fine $12,000 Ridgid threader, it isn't cost effective for occasionaly use. This Northern set fits the bill perfectly and no 110VAC required. Seriously, these rascals get expensive; but this was the best combination of price and quality I have found.
For convenience and safety I would also recommend a good tristand with chainvise for those folks who will be using the threader more than a few times. My preference is the Ridgid 460; however this stand is abit pricey. I hope Norther soon offers a comparable item.
Northern Industrial Tools has never let me down. The quality and price has always been within my budget."
