couldn't be happier,

"I operate a wild game processing shop in southwest Montana and before I got this hoist i would have to use a come-a-long to lift the 200 animals that I process during the game season. This year the hoist has saved my back and several hours of ratcheting animals up to skin and then cut them up. I mounted it about ten feet off the floor and it can lift a big elk completely off the ground with no problem!!!!"

Excellent hoist,

"I have used this hoist for 3 years now- I use it to lift my motorcycles to a second floor storage area, and it has worked flawlessly. The heaviest bike is a 800 pound machine and on double-line it works perfectly. I also use it for lifting my mower and snowblower on occassion to put them in the bed of my truck. It's a great hoist for the price."

A good winch, minor problems,

"I use this winch to power a home built freight elevator. It has plenty of power and works very reliably, but I had to do two modifications to it. First, the control cord was too short for my purpose, but I think it could stand to be another 3' longer for most any purpose so the operator could stand away from the work during operation. Second, the auto shut off mechanism and switch (for when it reaches full lift) did not work reliably. It seemed as though the winch had enough momentum to continue pulling the cable's stop ring slightly farther even after the shut off switch was activated. This smashed the loop of steel rod (that connects to the switch) into the winch body, bending its pivot bolt. I corrected this by bending the steel rod to sit farther away from the winch body, giving it a safety margin of extra travel. However the switch itself later failed to turn off, breaking the pivot bolt out of the winch housing. Now I have to be sure to watch and stop the winch manually at the end of travel."

Northern Industial Electric Hoist - 1100 LB,

"I got this product especially to lift my tractor mounted mower into an upright position for winter storage to make more room for when I have my snow blower mounted to the tractor. It works well and seems as if it is well made. I have also found a few other uses for the hoist as my old back can not do the things it used to. I have bought other products from Northern and all of them have lived up to my expectations."

"I bought this winch so that I could install my lumber rack on my truck by myself. I have also used it to load/unload my snowblower, a wood stove and some big (250-300 lbs). landscaping boulders. This hoist is a back saver!!"

"I needed a hoist for my barn. The 1100lb electric hoist by Northern Tool worked out perfectly. The hoist installed easily, is sturdy, handles loads well and was priced exceptionally well for what I got. The controls are easy and responsive. I could not be happier."

Electric Hoist,

"I actually purchased this product as a Christmas Gift for my boyfriend. He told me it was exactly what he wanted! It handles heavy objects wonderfully and is very easy to use. The only negative doesn't have to do with how the product works but in how it was shipped. The box it came in had a picture and description of the hoist, so when it arrived my boyfriend was the one who received it from the mailman. Needless to say, he wasn't surprised come Christmas morning."
