Timberjack,
November 3, 2009
By Rufus1

"I bought one of these approximately 3 years ago and use it a lot. I have an outdoor boiler system and it requires a lot of wood. The Timberjack has never let me down. It brings the tree limbs up to a level easy for cutting and helps with rolling over larger tree trunks. I would recommend this to anyone."

"It worked great for the many oak logs I had to cut. A little longer handle would be a little more helpful, otherwise, great tool!"

good for small diameter or light trees,

"This tool serves its purpose but it cannot be pushed too much, it cannot lift any diameter it can grab. I bent the leg on mine by lifting heavy oak logs. Welded construction using soft steel. No problems with the handle but the bullet point design of the top hook does not always grab well - not a positive rake - and could be modified (possibly by forging or grinding) to dig more. Otherwise, if you can lift the log, it is a back and chain saw saver."

This product is GREAT!!,

"As much as I appreciate my son cutting us firewood, he would drive me completely insane when he'd run the chainsaw through the log and then hit the ground below. He's getting too old for me to tan his hide, so I got him one of these timberjacks and showed him how to use it and now I'm not resharpening my chains all the time. I also like the wooden handle as opposed to the metal ones because I find it to be stouter and less flexible. It's also good for rolling the logs out of a tight spot."

"Extremely sturdy and very well constructed. It handles all of the around-the-farm logging I do... mostly cutting up downed trees for supplemental heat."

"The unit works wonderful, but the handle is a little to short for the heave stuff (iron wood, hard maple, red oak) 6' handle would be more helpful!"

handle,

"I purchased this product to use cutting fire wood. The second time I used it the handle broke on an oak tree about 20' long that I was jacking about 6' from one end. You need to either keep it near the end or simply cut the tree into smaller lengths with out the jack first. Also, the hook needs persuation with a 3 lb. hammer to stick.
I am going to try the fiberglass handled one - this one does not hold up to my use."

"I have had this timberjack for three years and it has been surprisingly good. Unlike the metal ones, this one really grabs and holds the logs. Highly recommend."

Great partner in the woods!,

"The Timberjack works great as a second person to raise a log in order to cut it. It is heavy duty and it will lift a large log. The only criticism is the support bar you lift the log onto is a little small and will sink into the ground if the ground is soft. Otherwise, is am happy with this purchase."
