For anyone that has split wood by hand,
March 7, 2007

"This is a life saver I have split wood by hand for my intire life spending days spliting enough wood for the season. After using this I kick myself for wasting my time and energy for so many years. Now I can split enough for myself and my father in a single weekend. With 30 ton of pressure its powerful enough to split even the toughest seasoned wood with the greatest of ease."

Log Splitter,
August 20, 2009
By kjmn

"I have just received this product and must say first of all that the shipping was fast. I found the instrucions to be right on the mark with just a few exceptions. The wheel washers were not packed with the wheel, and there was no direction as to adjusting the idle down feature. With that said, it went togeather quickly --about 2hr. By all means have 2 people ( or a peice of equipment ) there when unloading from truck. The Honda engine is what you would expect one pull right out of the box and it started--make sure that you log splitter control valve is in neutral before starting. I started splitting about a half cord of knoted oak and maple and did not have any trouble. I think it would be safe to say that I will not be needing the return lable for this item--its a keeper"

"It is very simple to use and very safe. Have split 10 cord this year and not done yet. I saw the pole length up and my 100lb wife splits it. After all I bought for her for christmas."

Log Splitter,
July 20, 2009
By loggerjim

"This is a GREAT machine. I have owned one for several years now and it is one of the best purchases I have ever made. The machine is very powerful, the engine starts easily (even in the cold) and I have never had any downtime. It is very economical on fuel....the idle control is a must-have feature and helps minimize fuel usage as well as extend engine life. I would buy another one and would recommend it to anyone."

"Works well and very well built. Funtions well in both verticle and horizontal positions. I have put three cords of large logs thru it with no problems. A little more assembly required than I had anticipated, but good instructions and easy to do. Buy the secondary set of splitting wings for a four-way split."

A back saver,

"Like most people i looked at them all, this northstar 30 ton with the idle control is by far a front runner. i also put a return filter on and i removed the front jack leg and put a trailer jack with a wheel on it, makes for moving around very easy. I split about 7 to 10 cords pr yr most times by myself so the idle control is very nice to have. This unit is very well built and im sure it will outlast me. As for the honda.....just one pull and your working. So far a great splitter."

Better than expected,
March 23, 2009

"After years of renting and borrowing, I finally broke down and purchased my own splitter. I reviewed many splitters and although I couldn't inspect this one personally I decided for the price I'd take a chance. It arrived in very sturdy packaging and I assembled it in only a few hours. I was pleased that all of the parts were there (with some left over's). I've now split about 3 full cord some of which was very twisted hard maple on only 2 gallons of gas. I'm pleased with the idle-back feature, ease of starting and overall performance. I suspect that all of my friends will want to borrow mine. By the way, when I read the reviews I noted a suggestion to install a return filter which i did. I also installed an hour meter which will help with service."
