"I decided on this saw after a lot of shopping around because I had a large project to do and I knew I needed power and I was impressed by the 5 year warranty. This saw absoulutly chewed through a huge green hickory tree that blew over in my yard. I was especially impressed how it cut through the 24 to 30 inch trunk over and over and the chain is still sharp! The Efco started up with ease hot or cold so I wasted no time or energy on that. I believe I will be passing this saw on to my son in 15 years."

Efco 152-18, July 20, 2009
By talltailkennel from Roosevelt, Ut

"I bought this saw and it worked very well for about 4 months, I had about 30 small trees (about 6-8 inch diameter trunk) to cut down after about 25 of them it stopped running and will not start. I called about the warranty (Northen Tool is always very helpful) and found out the closest warranty repair shop was about 600 miles away. So I called them to see if they could tell me what was wrong and maybe just get a part. They were very rude and unhelpful, he said it probably wasn't covered under the warranty, and that this saw isn't made for cutting alot of trees. I guess 25 is alot. I sure hoped for almost $400 I could get a few more then that. Even though Northern tools site says it is "Ideal for more demanding uses like medium-to-large diameter tree cutting and felling". I don't really want to send it ($30 shipping one way) to see if it is covered just to spend at least $60 more dollars for a saw that won't hold up.

Anyway spend your money on a Stihl, or make sure you live close to a warranty repair shop."

Efco mod 152 chain saw, April 8, 2009
By Janos from Fort Wayne, IN

"I have cut 2 cords of wood with my new Efco and so far I am very happy with it. I am still figuring out how many pushes of the primer will give the best chance of starting within 3 pulls when cold. When warm it always starts with one pull. This is my first saw with a compression release and it works very well. It has more than enough power for the 18" bar no problem dropping trees and yet it is light enough not to wear you out when cutting limbs. If you only want one saw that will do everything that the average wood burning person needs to do I would highly recommend the Efco 152."
