Bright Idea,
November 21, 2008
By DaveVT

"I installed 2 of these lights out in my shop in the barn. Winters get cold here in Vermont, and flourescent lights just don't cut it when the temperature is below freezing. The lights install in a snap, and are plenty bright. They even add a little radiant heating to my workspace. The High-Low-Off switch is a plus, but I generally just leave them on high, connected to a wall switch. I did have one bulb burn out in less than 10 hours use, that's why I didn't give 5 stars."

great replacement for flouresent garage lights,
November 17, 2008
By Roger

"This was a complete package, including toggle bolts for a ceiling installation, two hanging chains and a protective cage for the lamp. If you are tired of waiting for flouresent tubes to heat up on a cold evening this is for you. These lights can get very bright on the 500 watt setting, but also have a lower setting to save on electric and still get quite a bit of light. The built-in light switch with a pull chain has three settings... off, full on and low light settings. These were easy to install with all of the included hardware."

"Good lighting for the price. I added 3 to supplement the lighting in my workshop. Despite being 16 feet high, they have greatly increased the lighting."

500 Watt Halogen Shop Light,
April 5, 2008
By Netartsdave

"Want to light up your world? This will do it! I bought two for my shop when I needed a quick and easy fix for inadequate lighting. I got better lighting then I expected, and the light were a breeze to install. They are definitely for a low ceiling installation which can be good, if that is what you need and they are BRIGHT!. I had one that went out after two months of pretty heavy use, and I am contacting Northern for a replacement, the ceramic holder for the light bulb cracked, or was cracked. This is the reason I did not give them a 5 star rating. Other then this one problem the light is a wonderful product and definitely worth the money."

"The light brightens up the area perfectly, but it doesn't always come on. This requires removing the shield and jiggeling the bulb. Very inconvenient."

easy installation,
March 9, 2007

"hang em up and plug em in. easy to install. i bought two of these for one end of my barn where i wanted some bright light for some woodworking. a little disappointed in the brightness. i was thinking two five hundred watt halogen lights would be more than enough. i was wrong. i don't think six of these lights would be enough for the space i'm trying to illuminate. my mistake. at night they seem much brighter than they do during the daytime. unfortunately i like being out there during the daytime and that is when i need the extra light. i'm still looking for a solution to my lighting needs. on the "bright" side, they weren't expensive."
