"I was surprised to see a rubber compound bonded to the brake band. I'm used to seeing something like an automobile lining. The brake worked fine so I guess this is the new non asbestos enviromentally way to stop."

"the brake drum I got was great, BUT the brake band had a rubber lining not a normal brake lining, I thought that, OK I will try this, but douted its abilty, the go cart it is on has a 12 hp moter & a light weight frame, the brakes made a bad squeling noise, you couldn't push it backwards , the brake would grab ,stoped great frist few times, rubber got hot, melted & went metal to metal fast & lost brakes. it is also made for a cable & can be easly convereted to a rod to apply brakes, took band off cleaned rubber off & rivited an old part of a leather belt & glued the rest to the band now it works great & relible"

"This complete kit was easy quick to instally if the bolt for the pin wasn't broken. Mine was but i found a thicker bolt and put it through the brake band without the pin. It worked perfectly fine. Stopping is better then stock brakes. I have a 10 hp go kart so stopping needs to be strong so that it is possible to do a 90 degree turn going into it at 55 mph. If you need a replacement for your brake this is the perfect one for any go kart."
