The Answer To High Heating Bills, March 6, 2007
By Gfalki from Verona, KY

"I installed my Drolet Wood Burning Stove in my double wide mobile home on March 4, 2007. That night I started a small fire to cure the paint like instructed to do in the manual. I shut down my home furnace that morning and will not turn it on again. The next day I started a fire in the stove and wanted to see what it would do. That night the outside temerature was 18 degrees and my living room was a surprising 80 degrees and the bedrooms 70. I would highly recommend this stove to anyone wanting to decrease their heating bills. This wood burner is very easy to use and is very efficient. I heated my home the whole night with about 5 or six 6 logs. The most satisfying par of the stove was the already installed blower. All the other stoves i have experienced had a very weak blower and this one will acually blow your hair when in the high position. The variable speed on the blower is also a nice feature. I have a friend who ownes a home as well and will be purchasing and installing this same stove. He was very impressed. With the price of electric and gas furnaces......This is a very nice alternative heating source."

"Pros: easy to use, just get it hot, fill it and forget it for a few hours.
looks great with a big glass front door.
heats 1100 sq ft ranch from the basement.
comes with built in blower

Cons: small fire box, must use small pieces of wood.
on a full load only burns for 5-6 hours or so."

Drolet Savannah good purchase, November 4, 2009
By Warly from Leyden Massachusetts, western MA

"1. The stove arrived within the time frame stated by Northern Tools. The delivery company would not take it into the house, even for extra money (over or under the table). So getting it into the house was the largest problem.
2. Once out of the box it is easy to run; easily hooked into the stove pipe we had from our previous stove, 6" pipe.
3. The stove put out a lot of heat. In moderately cool weather, like 30 to 40 degrees, one load of wood takes the chill off for several hours. We have not had occasion yet to use it in extreme cold but already I can tell that it will use less wood to make more heat than our 30 year old Resolute .
4. The draw backs: Not as pretty as many others; the door swings open in front so that ash flies out (top loaders don't do this); to use the ash drawer the stove must be cold.
5. Pluses: quality stove for the money, beautiful view of fire (distracts from the plain design of the stove), quiet fan, good draw design so stove is efficient; flat top easy to cook on or humidify the house.
I would recommend the stove to friends (and strangers!)."

Great Economy Stove, November 2, 2009
By Wanderingson from Madisnville, tn

"Researched long and hard to find an ecomomical stove that would get the job done. We have test fired the stove multiple ties during the initial cool nights of the season.

All around great stove, but would like to have an additional damper to get the fire jump started. Right now, I work around the lack of additional damper by slightly cracking to door to get a little more air flow. Once I get a good burn going I close the door and let the stove do it's magic."

More Wood, November 2, 2009
By bonswan from Northwest Wisconsin

"I installed my Savannah stove about a month ago. After the intial "burn-in", the stove puts out an unbelievable amount of heat. I run the fan on its lowest setting and it's more than adequate for heating half of our main level (we have a ranch style home so it's cooler on the side of the house furthest away). The fire burns very well, and it's very nice to see it through the window as it's burning. I have absolutely no complaints to this point and would highly recommend this stove to anyone wanting to burn more wood and use less gas or oil."

Great stove for the money, October 27, 2009
By JDS81 from Oregon

"I admit I was skeptical buying a wood stove online, but I am more than pleased with my Savannah. It burns hot seems fairly efficient and the price is great compared to other stoves. The only thing I would like to see is a bigger fire box."

By cstev from Michigan

"we were very hesitant getting this threw a catalog when we could go to a major hardware store and find one and take it home But I am glad we did the quality is amazing and this is our second year using it! last year I was scared just cause of the unknowing So my husband made all the fires now this year I am up everymorning doing it I love it! The only thing I would say is the piping you CANNOT mix and match! We ran into the problem of doing that!"

"We were looking for a wood stove to heat our 900 sq ft. home. This has been perfect! We've used it for two years now without any problems. It gets to house so warm we can even leave windows open in the winter for fresh air. I'll never use baseboard or forced air heating again!"
