tow behind sprayer,

"I love the NorthStar Tow-Behind Sprayer/boom. I just bought 8 acres of land and I have a disability of not walking more than 100 ft distance. So the freedom I have with this sprayer is great. I can easily hook this up to the battery, and tow it behind the riding lawn more. I can get to all of the flowers and trees now to water them and maintain them. I also used it to spray fertilizers and bug sprays. Its made my life a lot easier for now on."

Time Saver!!,

"I have a 3 lot home. Lots of pine straw beds that weeds love to grow in. I was able to keep the landscaping and lawn weed free and do a family members yard also!! Saves huge amounts of time and energy compared to a pump sprayer. Attached hand wand is very convenient for spot-treatment. I would buy this sprayer again.
No damage out of the box. Easy to assemble. Good instructions and mixing guide. Pump power cord hooked to the mower perfectly. Easy to turn on and off. Unit is sturdy enough for most usage. I'm looking forward to weed control and fertilizing for the first time ever!!"

Very happy,

"I am very happy with the product. I have only used it once to spray a ditch around my house using the hand wand. It sure was easier than filling up and carrying the hand sprayer. The remaining was used to clean up some weeds around the shop.
Some of the other reivews I read spoke of the short electrical cord included with the sprayer. I ran into the same problem when I tried to mount the switch on the lawn tractor in a permanent fashion. I also had a switch that would not turn off the sprayer. No big deal, I ran to town and bought a toggle switch."

Good sprayer, but the wheel assembly is suspect.,
June 10, 2009

"The sprayer components work fine. I have a 3 acre property and get the lawn sprayed in a small amount of time. My only two complaints are the wire lengths for the switch harness and the durability of the tire/axle assembly. I had to go back and buy a wire extension kit in order to use the sprayer on my lawn tractor. Regarding the tire/axle, I have a relativley smooth yard and have used the sprayer only 5 times. While spraying last time, I heard a noise towards the back of the sprayer and saw the tire swaying. I went back to investigate and discovered a bunch of bearings on my driveway. Just doesn't seem right for this to happen on a flat yard. I could maybe understand if I was going over rough terrain on a consistent basis. Hopefully Northern will replace the assembly."

NorthStar Tow-Behind Sprayer,
March 23, 2009
By ftrooppaso

"We were spraying four acres with a 2-gallon hand-held sprayer - not too bright. This product was extremely simply to hook-up to our lawn tractor. The wiring was extremely simple (Just attached to the the battery terminal quick-connect) and using a simple hitch-pin for the mower, I was in business.
The capacity is sufficient and allows me to use the boom without running out too quickly.
Pros - simple to hook-up and use. I had it out of the box and put together in just a few minutes. Very few parts to worry about. Only one part has had to be replaced (the Y-valve) and I was able to just use a basic hose part for that, so it too was simple and easy to replace. Pump has always maintained pressure and has not had any clogging issues.
Cons - Y-valve wore out quickly. Need a little bit longer extension of the wiring from the unit to the mower. My placement of the on/off switch is not perfect, but it works. I just need to make sure I don't clip it with my foot.
Summary - I would recommend this to anyone. If you had trouble it is designed to be easily fixed with parts you can get from a local hardware store. Only the pump would need to be ordered and my just cranks along with no problems. I gave it a Four (4) star rating only b/c of the Y-valve quality and the need for another foot or two of wiring from the unit. Otherwise it has been great."

It works, but cheaply made,
March 23, 2009
By Sanpitch

"I have used my sprayer for many years now and the sprayer part works great. However, the trailer is very cheaply built. I use it for farm work and tow it behind a 4-wheeler. The wheel bearings went out after a few months. Northern Tools was kind enough to replace them, but I could tell they would not last very long. After replacing the wheels with some with grease fittings (Northern Tools helped me find some), welding a stronger tongue on the trailer, and reinforcing the whole trailer (it started to crack) with angle iron, it works great. It gets some heavy use for two months every year. I have had some problems with the pump mounts and had to modify them a little. Overall, I am pleased. I would like to see a stronger trailer for towing."

NorthStar 26 Gallon Sprayer,
March 14, 2009
By SpudMan

"You should use a torque wrench to put this together. A fair amount of assembly required but only takes 30-40 minutes. Good quality parts and the tires are pneumatic, not plastic or hard rubber. I did not order the optional circulator - it sounded like a piece of junk. Unit does not come with the hitch pin."

Excellent performance - beyond expectations,
November 18, 2008

"I've been using this sprayer for 2 years. Excellent performance, no break-downs, failures, or defects. The large top opening allows for easy mixing of chemicals and treatments, also great for cleaning the tank. The pump provides consistent pressure in all applications. The booms are functional and durable. Flexible enough to take minor bumps without breaking, yet sturdy enough to be stable during use. The convenience of the wand & hose is great. Allows efficient aplication in small or high areas that the whole sprayer can't be taken. A must-have."
