72 inch Finish Mower,August 12, 2009
By Nuffer460from Ransomville, New York
"I have owned the 72 inch finish mower for a year. Overall it's a good mower for the price. Casters have a couple of problems. The sealed bearings need to be re greased before first use. The rubber tires are a little soft and get cut easily. Still not a deal breaker. The next issuse are the bearings in the spindle or quill assembly. They are sealed ball bearings. So greasing the three quills every 8 working hours does not work. Left quill bearings completely failed and damaged shaft. Replaced bearings, welded up the shaft, ground down the welds for top bearing inner race. Had it working three hours later. Used basic home shop tools to repair. Big selling point, not complicated. The bearings for the casters and quills (Blade Shafts) are the same. Housing is heavy enough. Belt tension is easy. This is a great starter finish mower. If you know it's weak links, It will last for years. My NorTrac 254 handles this mower well. Again for the price it's a good mower."
