Generac acquired in 2001 by Briggs Stratton,July 31, 2009
By James27613from Raleigh, NC
"Briggs & Stratton Power Products Group, LLC. acquired Generac Portable Products in March of 2001. Generac Portable Products are no longer manufactured.
I own a WheelHouse 5.5/8.5 KW portable genset, starts the first pull everytime.
Have over 90 hours on it over three years. I only run it when I need to use it, never run it more then 20 hours at at time."

Auto Start Generator,May 2, 2009
By liessrsfrom Clinton (Whidbey Island) Washington
"I installed this auto start generator myself two years ago and haven't had any problems yet. It starts once a week without fail. I check the oil and battery occasionally and make sure everything is ok. We have had several short outages and it has performed every time for us. I recommend it to anyone. I have two friends who are very interested in getting one and my son-in-law has one and he loves it."

Broken wire
"I installed this generator Apirl 2008 ran fine for about 4 weeks then had starting problems could not find any one to work on it for 3 months. I kept working on it myself, found that the stater contracter and fuel valve would not work at the same time. I put a ground wire from the batter to the control cabnet and it work ! I found that the ground wire from the generator to the frame had broken do to the way the ground wire was made, BADLY CONSTRUCTED. LG"

Warranty work,December 5, 2008
By mobilert1from Leadville, CO.
"I purchased this generator Oct. 1st 2008 and installed it without any trouble. I took a couple of days of off and on working. I had it for about 3 weeks and it ran for about 5 hours total. Never failed to auto start to exercise it until the 4th week when it failed to start. Called around to several Briggs and Stratton dealers of whom none worked on generators. Finally called Briggs and after several times of trying got ahold of a person. He gave me the name of a serviceman who lives 4hrs away. It sounded pretty promising at first but the first appointment he had to cancel and haven't heard from him since. So my generator is useless to me at this point and don't know if or when it can be fixed. My suggestion is to find a serviceman first or don't even buy it at all till Briggs comes thru for me. I will keep you posted. JD"
