Reliance 30508B Transfer switch,
March 23, 2009

"I recently purchased the reliance 30508B transfer switch, my original intent was to backfeed the main panel like most people do. After talking to a master electrician I found out it is not very safe, or legal. So I decided to do it the safe way, and put in the transfer switch. I work in industrial maintenance but I'm not an electrician, This switch is very well built { In America } and the instructions are in plain english so anyone with a little knowledge of electrical wiring should be able to install this switch without a problem. I recessed this switch inside the wall after constructing a mounting frame for it. The optional trim kit and cover finished the job nicely. Great product..."

"I recommend this product. User reviews and cost is good. Got a generator and this switch. Out of box everything was fine. Had electrician install. Tested fine. Easy enough got wife to use. I like the meter built in. Only recommendation would be to have them make one that is upgradable. So if you want more circuits. No having to buy 6,8 or 10 version."

Easy to install,

"If you can tell black from red you can install this device in less than an hour. Everything is pre-wired and clearly labeled. The generator inlet can be removed and the box hard wired to an external inlet. A suitable cover is supplied to close the opening from the removed inlet connector. In my case I installed the box next to my breaker panel and ran 10-3 cable to a rain proof inlet box next to the house."

"The delivery was quick, The Transfer switch box was easy to mount beside my main panel, Read book that comes with and you should have little or no trouble with mounting and wireing it up...TURN OFF POWER TO MAIN! After spending four days without power this will do the trick to keep heat, water pump, and other needed things running."

"I am a Locksmith , I found this product to be exactly what I wanted and the instructions for installation were very easy to follow. A person with very little electrical knowledge could install this product if needed. This Transfere Switch, Coupled with my generator now provides my family with peace of mind knowing that if the power goes out again we are ready and it will only take a few minutes to have our backup up power going. Thank you Northern Hyd. PS. I have purchased all kinds of products from you in the past 15 yrs. Each and every one of them have been top notch. Every item performed just like it should."

"Transfer switch arrived quickly as promised. It appears to be a quality item, well-built. I have not hooked it up yet, but look forward to the piece of mind in knowing my pipes won't freeze if the power goes out for an extended period of time!"

Safe Transfer,
March 7, 2007
By WSTENGR

"I used the 220V breaker for a well pump and the other 6 for furnace, refrigerator, freezer, kitchen, master bath, Living Room. Everything is isolated and the load indicators are great to monitor conditions and balance both sides. I exchanged lights in the connected rooms to compact florescent and was able to note change in load directly by the meters. Plenty of circuits for the average home. With this device when I am away from home on business travel I know my wife can handle the generator transfer on her own if need be and safely instead of the unsafe way most people connect to their home with a double ended cable. Transfer switches are the way to go. I installed it easily myself."

Excellent Transfer Switch,

"This product was just what I needed. Now when the power goes off, my well pump still works. I keep my freezer and frig products. I have lights. And most important, I have water.
You will need a generator. When the power goes off switch to generator, plug in the generator and start the generator and presto you have power."

transfer switch,

"After looking at the Chinese made transfer switches offered at our local supply stores, the Reliance unit was a pleasant surprise. The quality is much higher, the switches feel more positive and durable, and the installation was very straight forward since the instructions appear to have been writen by some one who speaks English. The unit cost less,is American made and higher quality, and the guarranty is longer. There is no down side to discuss."
