Good Brand - Poor Circuit Board, October 27, 2009

"I have the 17 Kw unit for my house, which performs exceptionally well. This unit was bought to run our main fire station, after the old Kohler died. The generator is well built and securely located inside its aluminum housing. After installation, we discovered the circuit board is bad, thus not detecting commercial power. This caused the generator to start up continuously. A service technician has ordered a new circuit board, whcih is warranted. Apparently, Generac knows there is a problem with these boards. Hopefully, they will offer free replacements for the old ones once they get the bugs worked out. We are awaiting the new board. We can still manually changeover the system. Generac is a terrific generator. Just like any product, there will be some flaws."
