Worked great, July 20, 2009
By heartlazyt

"Did three tires, a 16 inch, 15 inch and a 10 inch. worked great on all of them. At 15-20 dollars to get a flat fixed it pays for itself fairly fast. Was easy to use and easy to figure out. Should have an additional tire wrench to help get the tire off the rim but this definelty does the job."

Awesome for ATV Tires, March 23, 2009
By skeeter219 from Michigans Upper Peninsula (gods country)

"I bought this for my ATV Tires and it has saved me hundreds of dollars compared to paying everytime I change tires or rims on my ATVs ,granted it is a little work but not bad at all ,I can break down a tire in about 5 minutes total, It is one of the best tools in my garage ,But be very quiet about to your friends as they will be over everyday with a tire ,,(just kidding) An Awesome item"

manual tire changer, February 24, 2009
By doitright from Rochester , NY

"purchased to change atv tires , works good for the price , don't know if it is strong enough to do car tires but if your doing smaller tire , atv , lawn equipment it does the job just fine . Bolt it to the floor for best results."

This tool is not impressive or disappointing, October 17, 2008
By CaseyVR6 from Catskill Mountains, NY

"Essentially, if you're chaning ATV tires, small tractor tires or other small sized tires this is a perfect machine. If you're intending on using it for car, truck, suv and other larger tires it's a cost effective starting point but plan on beefing up the bead breading hardware and having additional tire spoons within reach.

Having a few years of experience using the professional tire changing machines I wasn't quite sure what to expect. This tool is not impressive or disappointing. It will change tires from small garden tractor to full size suv, assuming you’ve got it bolted down well enough and you’ve got the grunt to do it. Overall, the machine is worth the money considering the cost of mounting tires in most shops, including household things like tractors, wagons, hand-trucks, etc. It takes a little technique to feel comfortable with it, and DO NOT assume you won’t need an additional tire spoon (Two may be even better, in addition to the bar that comes with the changer). The welds are all very well done, the steel is good quality, the finish is even (although the paint does rub off quite easily).

The part of the machine that is inadequate for working on car tires is the bead breaker, and does need to be modified/reinforced if it’s going to see mostly car-sized tires. Specifically, the pipe that acts as part of the lever mechanism isn’t strong enough for significant pressure. Mine actually started to fatigue at the pivot pin after the second tire and needed to have some steel welded on to make it sturdy enough to continue. The second is the arm that drops and contacts the tire to make the bead breaking actually happen (looks a bit like a square spoon). This part fatigued and bent as well, and also needed some reinforcement steel to be welded in."

30 min tire change, January 15, 2008
By Kobi from Homer, AK

"I have used this tire changed to change 33 inch tires on 16 inch rims and some smaller tires and rims also. I can bring a car into my garage and change 4 tires in under an hour, I think I have done it in under 30 minutes before. It is a simple process and once you do a set or 2 of tires it will feel pretty easy. I have no complaints about the product."

Works - I'd buy it again!, October 29, 2007
By JRPhilly from Philadelphia, PA

"Keep in mind that this is a MANUAL tire changer! It's not intended to do all the work for you, so know what you are ordering. It should be bolted to the floor or at least to a sturdy base before using. You'll be applying significant lateral force...
That said, it beats the you-know-what out of changing motorcycle (with the motorcycle-tire adapter) and riding mower tires on the floor!
So far, nothing has bent, broken, or failed in any way (15 +/- tires) and I expect to have this tool for a lifetime... Or at least until I can afford a pneumatic version!"

Needs a little modification, July 9, 2007
By Raggar from Vang, Norway

"The first thing I found out, Was that the pin for the lug hole had to go. It only fitted my Pick Up truck wheels. So I cut it off, and made a rubber plate that covered the round base plate out of rubber used to make mudflaps for big rigs. This is enough to keep the wheel from spinning when replacing the tire. And it also protects the rim from scratches. Works great for me - and I've used it a lot lately!"

hand operated tire changer, May 4, 2007
By bill154cub

"It works great for me but i used these way back in the early 70's late 60's too. You need to keep the tire inside the groove in the rim to assemble it. I used a rubber lube during assembly too.
I'm assembly tractor tires(garden tractors) and i put in 2x3's to hold the tires open for a while and then assemble them and blow them up Otherwise its hard to seat the beads. Thats no fault of the tire changer it works great. You need to remove the valve stem so it gets the full air pressure when trying to seat the beads too."

Works good, great value!, March 16, 2007
By Unobtanium from Upstate NY

"My brother and I needed a simple tire changer for our small shop. We were a little dubious of this one since it was so cheap, but man it works pretty good. You have to bolt it to the floor and it helps to have two people but we took off about 10 tires in about an hour. These tires were OLD, OLD crusty tires that were rusted onto the rims, and they all came off with the tire changer.

Money well spent!"
